In GoodDad's case it seems that GEPper with SMOPS and school team player does not help in the HCI DSA (am assuming his ds applied for HCI?) or could his interview/test the main cause ?

Hi Leeven

I understand that all GEP boys have to go for interview, no filtering from GAT. The only different is that <80% take GAT. 80% and above no need to take GAT.

My girl went for interview yesterday. nygh dsa will hold today and tomorrow as well.

hi, think it depends on when your dd took the GAT..
her classmates who took the GAT on 16 Jun & earlier, NYGH called them last week to go for interview this week..
my dd took GAT on 30 Jun, just received the call to got for interview next Mon.

Yes, My DS applied for HCI. Silver award in SMPOS was nothing, hundreds of them out there. School team player did not help either. I guess not becuase of the interview/test, DS interview session lasted for almost 40mins and the interview was done both in English and Chinese. It was the SA1 result was the most important factor.

My DS classmate, has nothing outstanding in his profile. SA1-83%. COs from RI, HCI, ACSI and NUSH.

COs from RI, HCI, ACSI and NUSH.[/quote]Just to share, came across a mainstreamer's case: got WL1 (as good as CO) from HCI DSA via phase 2. SMOPS bronze and not sch rep for any sport. Put HCI as his first choice and later posted to ispark. Was told reason: did very well in his GAT, entry test(Eng, Chin & Math) and interview during DSA.

Yes there are cases for GEP girls where they took GAT and didn't make the cut, so no interviews and hence rejected.

The focus for mainstreamers was on SMPOS, written test, interview and maybe some other special talent.

I guess now, at least a GOLD or PLATINUM award might make a different. Base on 2011 SMPOS result that were total about 150 Platinum, 240 Gold and 378 Silver awards given out, about 60%-70% or so are boys. How many COs and WLs can be given out base on SMPOS awards?

SMOPS - top 2% platinum, next 5% gold, next 5% silver. Assuming 4000 participants, a student could get a silver even his position is above 400th. Don't forget, HCI knows the score and position of each participant.
