In my opinion, prelim is a practice before PSLE, just to get students ready for the real challenge.

Depend on how sick you are. If the child has chicken pox or hand foot mouth disease, then Prelim result will be used. Most schools tend to set tough Prelim papers & the sick child might have disadvantages. Prelim is more than just a practice before PSLE.

Using Prelim results puts the child at a disadvantage...most schools set tough papers. Today is Prelim Orals...told my son to take it easy and don't panic.

You got it right. Both exams are important if you are aiming for both Edusave scholarship & EESIS. Not forgetting that Prelim result will be used if the child is too sick to take PSLE & PSLE result also determine which Sec school the child will be going to.
