do u think the sch will call up parents to withdraw if they no longer stand a chance? I recall reading on this forum that schs will do that.

      MR06:
      Going forward

I hope ksp parents will co-operate in P2C.

Those living within 1km of schools especially those schools with balloting history please register on the 1st day or at least 2nd day.

Those 1-2km please register on day 2 or morning of day 3.

This will give parents who live further from the school time to digest the data and go for Plan B if needed.

Especially parents living within 1km, please don't go and register just before close of registration to kick parents living further away out. This is a very irresponsible act.

      Please spread the word.

If there are too many affected applicants or there is too little time left, the school may not be able to reach the affected parents in time.

Actually I feel that MOE should review the order of registration phases. The current order just does not seem to be right. Why the children have to go to school further away from their home if there is a school right at their doorstep?

What you are saying is true! But I guess we can't stop Parents from doing this..... MOE is to be blame on this system....
In about 1-2 years time they will change the system, they are now getting lots of Stress from Parents like us...
            Hope for the best!!!

Maybe for P2C, MOE can dictate that those staying <1km register on Day 1, followed by 1-2km on Day 2. Day 3 for >2km etc. Provides more clarity for parents with Plan B.

It’s been quite an eye-opener. Got to know so many things and saw different perspectives from all walks of life. But some outsiders must be laughing their heads off over the drama in the past few pages. Well, sometimes we do need to learn how to laugh at ourselves too. Good luck to everyone in P2C and Congratulations to all who have gotten into their school of choice.

No matter how the system is structured people will find ways to overcome the rules. Just like illegal parking. How I wish there are volunteer traffic warden to book illegal parking nearby United Square. Because of the popular tuition ctr like learning lab, lorna whiston, GUG …etc. too many cars waiting illegal outside the ctr. Just to save that $2 when the tuition fee can be $70 per hr! Tell the traffic warden stop listening to people giving excuses and just go ahead book fines! Ok sorry to side track. But it is just almost the same analogy about p1 regi system.

Unless we want to take away alumni, churches/clan members, siblings…etc should we then suggest first come first serve? We were there once and people then fought to ask for some priorities to certain group of people. People fought and asked for flexibilities of the system but over time some people abuse it. And now we criticise current system but no one have so far given any good and constructive suggestion. (i can’t think of one too). Those who dare to ‘borrow’ address on paper and not staying are not many. Whoever knows it can just report to MOE. As for those staying in ‘rented’ address for a very short term it is not easy to ‘catch’ but if we know we can report too. If we look at the balloting details we should be glad that the new policy does help many of us. Even if it means only one seat more, if you would ask those that just came back from balloting today, they can tell you how precious is that "1" seat.
The new ruling has just been implemented we should seek change if it is not working but let’s see how it goes after this exercise before asking for change again.

Err.. There is a BIG different between who has rented & stayed in and who has rented but has not stayed in.

For the first case, they had committed to stay and did not lie about their residential address whereas they are liars for second case because they are lying about their actual residential address since they did not stay.

The second case can be charged in the eye of law but the first case is perfectly OK.

I m sure there re many parents like me have been reading posts but not commenting.

Years back, i went thru 2c registration at SCGS and in the room, there was a very upset couple. lamenting there re ppl they know who only rented a place and not staying in it. They challenged the staff to go investigate every single one of the applicants.
The staff explained that they can't do that, but advised them to notify moe since they mentioned they KNEW such cheaters.

I was taken aback by their strong reactions. wondering if there was a need for such vengeance/hatred in the air.

as expected we went thru balloting, within 1km @ 2c. those days before the balloting day were long n tough.

after balloting, i happened to find out the couple who made so much noise in the room that day, too rented an apt to get into 1km. The difference is they stayed but moved out when lease ended.

I can't help but to think the pot calling kettle black. However I am thankful my girl got in, and that yr, it was a 50+ seats with 60+ applicants within 1km.

please be prepared to go thru balloting, i really dont thk it is possible to skip it this yr.
My girl was picked @ 50% of the balloting. i almost teared. As parents we are blessed to have the courage (to take such stress & balloting-heart attack) and foresight (in picking affiliated sch). SO let's show our kids what it is to 'come what may, we are ready to face the storm'.

Moving forward, i hope they will not scrape the alumni girls' rights which some readers are writing in to ST forum for (sickening). I told my girl putting her in scgs is the only inheritance I am leaving her for her daughter. And before she seriously consider her mate, please marry someone frm gd sch so her son will have phase 2a rights. (pls dont stone me for being realistic). I foresee the registration many yrs to come will be worse.

All the best parents, you can do it. Do your kids proud! 🙂

Errr... actually hor, short term rental address is also not consider fair play. IMHO,
In case of balloting, rental address applicants should refrain from taking part in the balloting exercise so as not to deprive those (us) geniunely staying near the school on permanent basis. In case no need ballot, I do not mind but it is highly unlikely to happen this year for SCGS

What about those who once got a place in the school, sell the house to cash in on the good selling price?
