Heard the school has quite a fair bit of ASEAN students, especially the Indon. If really not choice gotta reg after failing the P2B & P2C of ACJS or SJI, might as well go private (San Yu Adventist School).

I went to the Balestier Pri Sch website and saw the Org Chart. A few HOD positions appear to be \"Vacant\"...Maybe not updated.

We are not Christians and would not consider a private sch anyway.

Hope other parents can provide some intel on Balestier Hill.

      Thanks!

In this case, you really must make a trip down to take a look at the surrounding environment, not very ideal place for schooling especially if you have a daughter.

Initially I took BHPS as my plan C but gave up the idea after visited the vicinity, thus changed my Plan C to home schooling and Plan D to San Yu.

U r far ahead of me. I thought Plan B shd be sufficient lol.

I have never considered home schooling. I admire parents who homeschool their children. It’s def not for everyone and takes a lot of commitment and dedication.

          Anyway sent u a PM.

I thought Singaporean primary sch kids can only enrol in local government schools and no private school allowed? So I wonder if San Yu School is avail option to us?

              http://www.moe.gov.sg/initiatives/compulsory-education/exemptions/

Apart from home schooling and the 6 madrasahs, think it's the only main stream school that can be exempted from compulsory education by MOE.

JCML- San Yu is a small private school. After so many people felt ‘kan cheong’ for you and congratulated you after your son get a seat in ACPS… how come you suggested to others 'if really not choice …might as well go private (San Yu Adventist …" Very discouraging statement ley…

2hotto handle - Balestier Hill Primary is a proper Govt school and still under care by MOE as compared to San Yu Adventist. Don;t resort to homeschooling and be your own MOE just because you can’t get a place in ACPS or SJI. If you think that way, then how about parents with special needs? These less priviledged special needs (can be deaf, blind, down synrome, autistics ,…erc). attend schools as long as the schools accept them and they have no choice in life at all.
Do not be despair, zoom into other schools as well that near your premise. Besides BHPS, there must be others. How about Kheng Cheng or First Toa Payoh in Toa Payoh ? They are not too far from Balestier and SJI area.

pardon me pardon me! In fact BHPS was one of my initial backup plan too but because of the slight 'complicated' surrounding (not so much of the school factors) after my visit, I just worried that forumer parents did not check out the area first before registering their children there. Thus suggesting San Yu which is situated a few hundreds metre away from BHPS, (eventhough it's not a government school) but the surrounding environment gave me a much better feeling. No offence.

                    Hi

I won't consider private schs. I moved back to Sg so that my girls would have access to our govt pri schools.

SCGS is the only girls' sch within 1km from where I stay but you are right, there are other schs that I can consider. In asking about BHPS, I was just trying to find out more about this sch in case my girl gets posted there if we fail in P2C and P2C supp. balloting. There are no other girls'/co-ed sch within 2km.

BHPS will be the only sch with vacancies left in my area at the end of P2C.

I am trying to assess whether I can live with my daughter being posted to BHPS if we fail in balloting in P2C and P2C supp. If I cannot live with this, then I may be less aggressive and give up SCGS if the odds are not in our favor. I have a younger daughter. If my elder one goes to BHPS, she will likely follow next year.

I can be bullish and just register in P2C at SCGS no matter what the odds are like. But I need to be rational for my daughters' sakes.

I just spoke to my friend who is a teacher. Her friend has taught in BHPS but apparently the kids have so many disciplinary issues she threw in the towel and quit.

Don’t shoot me I am just sharing this pc of infor for parents who might be considering BHPS like me.

Personally i would consider Marymount convent and St Margaret for 2C if balloting becomes too HOT. As for boys, I have heard good things about Hong Wen, St Andrews, Maris Stella.

                        That is just me.
