my girl is in pri 1 this year. work load wise, very manageable. the very consistant piece of homework is spelling and hao peng you (chinese reader cum exercises) ting xie... always gets postponed (could be because of holidays, absence of teacher due to being on course or mc)
it's not every night / evening that they have homework to complete. weekends, usually there will be worksheets but not many (2 pieces)Karenjj:
Will like to check with existing parents on the workload in the school.. heard that there are quite a bit of homework for P1, is that true? I am thinking to stop DD's enrichment classes next year, see how she manage first before deciding on tuition/enrichment classes. Should I do that?
Appreciate your feedback :hugs: -
hmm… i see… My hates spelling and ting xie …sigh… but then again, which kids like that! lol
Very excited about orientation. Not sure what to expect though. Must bring cheque book? What do i need to do that day? -
The list is given in advance so the problem is finding the time to learn them. Next year, your girl will be in the morning session, I think it is much better cuz there is the afternoon to finish work.
Well if they are going to follow last year's schedule, you will be getting books and uniforms soon in October. Then its the orientation in Nov. If you are going to sign her up for ballet with the school, then bring along your cheque book.lilfeets:

What a relief
.. Thanks for the feedback on homework.
Anyone has children doing CCA at P1/P2? I see that other than Ballet and Guzheng, the school also has FUN, which consist of Gymnastic, Badminton, Rope Skipping & Table Tennis.. I think my girl will be interested in Rope Skipping. If she take up FUN, can she just do Rope Skipping or does she has to try all 4 activities in the year?
:thankyou: -
Agree on the homework portion, the load doesn't stress the girl's at all. Think at times I feel out cast coz other P1 kids form other schools has homework while DD1 doesnt have much   (which I am happy for
)
For show and tell, 3 - 4 days of notice is given. no rubrics or assessment so less stress on child and parent. They focus on the child's confidence level. The principal focuses on \"happy learning\"
They don't give a list of holiday homework either. I would say \"holistic assessment\" really applies here. the bite size assessments are really bite size. Just a page or 2 and the school will inform you the week which it will be held. Love their PE activites!
gym & rope skipping. these are additional which they will inform in Jan. -
Thanks, Kiss & krazy! The school sounds great!!! :rahrah:

think there are only 60 slots and many parents do sign up for it on orientation day hence the need to ballot. It is called Fun Ballet actually.
I am interested to send my girl for ballet too. She is learning in a ballet school now. Heard that we need to ballot??? How big exactly is the ballet class? Is the teacher good?
Appreciate your feedback :hugs:
Don't know about the teacher but DD1 is happy going for her classes so I take as a yes

hmm… so how many CCA do you sign your girl up for? My girl has been doing ballet at SBA for 2 years and also Gymnastics and swimming. I think that might be too much for her…
-
SBA? The one at or around waterloo area?
My girl signed up for Fun Ballet and Fun Table Tennis. outside of school, nothing. She used to have private ballet classes but I cancelled it.
