Actually, my mum is staying in Dover near Fairfield, but I do not have the intention to let my girl to stay over there. I will be the fetching her to school and then to work. After work, fetch her from my mum's place. Just by telling you, I already feel the hecticness! Haiz!
Do consider carefully on the distance to the school and the logistics. Just to share my experience. I am staying in the east and enrolled my dd when she was younger in St Anthony's Canossian Primary though I had priority in a branded school in the west. Never regretted it, the convenience of being near the school especially during her later years when there were cca, extra afterschool lessons and activities, I could ask my maid to assist bringing her back from school. The time saved on distance means that she is less tired and have more time for her homework. On top of that, her classmates were staying nearby and she had lots of friends to play with.
She did very well for her PSLE and could go to any secondary school. She is now in a school at Bukit Timah. Honestly, we are beginning to feel the strain/ stress of the distance and it is only 7 months into a 6 year IP programme. My hubby has to wake up 1.5 hours earlier just to send her to school before work. I try to pick her after school when possible as public transport takes more than 70mins. It can be quite a hassle at times and exhausting too. Might consider either moving house or changing school. Sigh.... -

Well more or less I've decided to withdraw from P2b and go for balloting for CHIJ Katong pr under P2c(outside 2km). This is the school that has higher chance base on history as they still have 104 seats available.
It's good to hear that your girl has perform well in her PSLE and also hope she can get good results for her \"O\" levels. -

Every school will have some merits even neighbourhood schools. If your child can get into the better classes, she will definitely have lots of opportunities avail to her (that's how the system works). All the best to you and your child ! Btw, my dd doesn't have to take `O' levelsThanks for your valuable advice. Well more or less I've decided to withdraw from P2b and go for balloting for CHIJ Katong pr under P2c(outside 2km). ..... my next worry would be her `A' levels.

Dear Augmum,Hi Apricot,
By reading yr post, realised that our gals were fr the same primary sch,
but 2 yrs her senior....
I can totally understand yr situation....
We are also residing n the east, and gal also did very well for her PSLE to be eligible for any choice of her sec schs....
I think i know which sec sch u have chosen for yr gal......which was also our initial choice...
But after a serious consideration of the long distance fr house and the terrible jam at the PIE exit route that we had tried out,
we abandoned the idea of sending her there.....and yes, it was a tough decision to make....
Finally, we settle her for DHS which is thankfully located in the east.
I thnk if i were to pick that BT sch, i would have the same thinking as u,
moving hse or changing sch as i doubt i can tahan for 6 yrs,
making 4 trips a day, up and down..... :faint: :frustrated:
Yes, our dd were from the same school. I really like St Anthony's Canossian and feel that it is a good school with nice environment for kids. My dd enjoyed herself there and made many great friends. Too bad the secondary school standard is not high, if not how nice to just continue....
Actually, my first instinct after PSLE results was to send her either to Cedar or DHS. However, Cedar is very new to IP, while DHS is a SAP school and my dd does not enjoy Mandarin as she is not great in it. So, we decided on a school at bukit timah after much much much consideration and luckily found a classmate we could carpool to school. However, still felt that I should have trusted my first instinct though. Sigh.....living to regret.... :stupid:
My hubby just told me recently that he might need to go overseas for some work projects.
I pray hard that don't happen
. I really don't want to wake up so early to send her to school
. If that happens... definitely have to move house or school sooner. Trouble is, I love the east and my dd loves her school :slapshead:

Through my observation too, I found SACPS girls quite well-behaved compared to the other convent school girls. Have not heard any verbal vulgarities or seen unruly behaviour yet. Surprisingly, this school is not as popular.
Hi ApricotApricot:

Oh yes , i like SACPS too, found the kids there very well-behaved.
Frankly, i like SACPS more than the previous convent pri sch which my gal had attended.
Ya, the sec sch std is not high, it would def \"a waste\" for our gals to remain there......Apricot:
I thot the BT sec sch yr gal attending now is also a SAP sch, No ?Actually, my first instinct after PSLE results was to send her either to Cedar or DHS. Oh then i have made the wrong guess....
Actually, there was another mummy of SACPS, (same yr as my gal ) who was also in the same dilemma as us.
In the end , she also chose DHS .
U know something, near the closing time of the S1 posting, juz before 3 p.m,
my hubby and I still had the thoughts of whether shd we swap the 1st 2 choices,
i.e putting NYGH as 1 st choice instead of DHS as 1 st choice....haha
At least during yr gal's time, there is still another choice of Cedar, but it's true that their IP prog may be too new for comfort.Apricot:
Oh dear.... does yr gal's sch have sch bus services to pick up fr the east ?

I think change of school is so much easier than to move house, serious, moving hse is no joke...... :faint:
But then, yr gal would have to start new again, adapting to a new environment....
i am sure she wouldnt want to leave her friends there......
Yes, it is definitely easier to change school than move house. Have been trying to `psycho' my dd on accepting imminent change of school if needed. I prefer to persuade than insist unless absolutely necessary. Not very successful so far. Hmmn.... perhaps must let her take more 70mins bus rides to/from school instead of comfortable car rides. Maybe.... she will be begging me to change school soon . Yes, decisions made must have consequences.... -

I also did the same as you. The school staff advise me to have my hubby to stationed at the school that you registered earlier and yourself at the school under p2c. So you weigh your chance, if you think the chance good under p2c, call your hubby to withdraw then afterwhich u can register. Withdrawing no need show original ics, but registering you need originals. You can do this on 1st August, but make sure got sufficient time.
For myself, I still thinking which school to choose?
Thanks Wwon111! I will also check it out with the school on monday! -
hi please give me feedback about the teacher and students abt fengshan pri school? any valuable feedbackโฆ i have been hearing mixed views about this schoolโฆ please advise.

hi please give me feedback about the teacher and students abt fengshan pri school? any valuable feedback.. i have been hearing mixed views about this school.. please advise.
I happened to know of a neighbour who has kids at fengshan pri.
Fr the feedback of her gals, the boys there seem rowdy and mischievous,
dont wanna to elaborate incidents happened here...
Perhaps u can try to visit the sch to have a feel of their pupils there ....
( btw, are parents allow to have a visit to schs prior to registration? sorri, i couldnt rmb) -
I called SACPS earlier at 2pm to ask about the registration numbers. Vacancy is 92. But out of the 74 registered, 16 are SC so of likelihood, SC applicants are in. However now, there are 95 registered out of the 92 places. Even if Iโve terribly misheard the admin, and that 16 is actually 60 SC, whatโs the chances of my child getting in without balloting? Weโre within 1km. Should be likely, right? Dont want to be overjoyed too soon. Anyone has any updates? Many thanks!

I called up 10 mins before closing, the admin said SC are all in, balloting for PR only. Hope there wasn't any more new registrant after that. This years more vacancies are taken up at less popular schools as compared to the past history.
