How to save electricity?

Nebbermind:
I believe there will be difference in the energy needed...but probably too insignificant and we should not be fighting over it here.
no no
I m not fighting over dis.
Just trying to clarify a difference of opinion here.
It wld actually be gud for everyone's understanding if someone who has 2 different sized electric kettles test it out.
Yes, my view is d difference is likely insignificant in $ sense. -
Way2GO:
Huh? Wat constant u talking - d same amount of energy expended in heating up d same quantity of water?
YES
The totally amount of energy required to bring the water to boiling is dependent on the amount of water, NOT the rate of power delivery (power rating). (Assuming no energy losses to surroundings etc..).
Just ask any O level kid.
Or maybe some secondary teachers around can answer that question. -

OK u win.

Peterch, u also old flower eyes? -
Way2GO:
No disagreement with that.
Yes, my view is d difference is likely insignificant in $ sense.
But since someone asked.. no harm answering. -
Peace! Peace! Just thinking out aloud….

the amount of heat loss during the boiling process of the same amount of water at the same starting temperature may be different due to the different kettle size / surface area and power rating as has been explained in the few posts above.
notwithstanding the heat loss to be quantified that caused some differences in energy consumed, it also generated some heat among the different forumers in the above few posts...this heat generated is hard to quantify.....  -
vk as impressive as ever…

Ooi, I clean up my fan already (finally!) but hor, still the same leh… The power not that powerful anymore… What else can be the problem? Or just simply wear and tear? -

If got wear and tear.. is it noisier than before? maybe add a bit of WD40 at the bearings? Another possibility is corrosion at the electrical contacts.
