[quote=\"spursburger\"]Let's be fair to P1 Mummy and be true to ourselves that we believe the current system is taken advantage by selfish parents, be it for SCGS or another school. Who likes cheats? In the real world, there are cheats everywhere. I am sure you have heard of some husbands who cheat, does it mean it is ok if they don't get caught? Does it mean the poor wives can't sent warnings out?
I know the odds are tough but i went ahead because I felt i should at least give it a shot and leave the rest to God's will. If my girl loses her place to a cheat, i will be dissapointed or even likely to be angry... but i will tell myself i have done the best i could in the last 3 years of planning and this is God's will for me and my daughter. I am just human just like P1Mummy. I will have another shot at this for my younger girl in 2 years if it doesnt work out this year.[/quote

r.
Let's get this straight first. The parents who replied do not approve of cheats.
If you know of a cheat, the right thing to do is to make a report and let the police, school and moe investigate.
When she said she has friend working in the legal dept of moe who is buddy buddy with the vp of scgs and getting the names and nric no (private and confidential info) is easy for her, isn't there something wrong here? Can moe staff leak p + c info to an outsider?
It is already stressful for parents at this stage, no one needs a parent to come here making threats repeatedly in her posts.

Thought it has always been the trend over the years. Cos smps is a safer bet compared to SCGS n MGS. If parents failed to secure a seat at SCGS n MGS, any other good options - gal School to choose???hmmm.. CHIJ - kellock n toa payoh??
=====
OIC. CHIJ toa payoh no chance for >2km. I have compared CHIJ kellock vs SMPS, I prefer SMPS. Indeed SMPS is a great gals school! Great to hear many affirm it in forum. I am so happy to have opted this school for my girl! -
LOLMum, I see what you see too.
It was all about the p & c things P1 mummy mentioned that turns all off.
But doubt that any actions would be taken by her should her DD get into SCGS successfully. -
P1 Mummy is just using scare tactics in the hope that address cheats will withdraw or not apply at all. At the end of the day, do you really think the VP is going to risk his/her job and leak private information to a disgruntled parent because her kid didn’t get a place in SCGS? Would her buddy in the MOE really break protocol and get all the personal registration information from the VP and not go through the correct procedures? I seriously doubt it.
Further to this…are there any published regulations that applicants need to live in a property for more than a specified period of time? So, if you move in the day before registration, is that "illegal"? Where does it say that?
From what I see on the P1 registration form, the only thing you can be prosecuted for is giving fraudulent information. Therefore, it means using an address that you do not live in. The police would need to knock on the door and go in the house to verify that would they not?
For example, I know of one parent who used the grandparents address in the GRC of their school of choice (they live in another GRC) and joined Grassroots. After a year, they got their letter entitling them to apply under P2B. So they were able to get their daughter into their school of choice using this false address as well as in the earlier 2B phase. The beauty of this move is that in Phase 2B, there is no history of balloting even beyond 1km. So whilst P1 Mummy might be checking for cheats within 1km…please remember that there are other cheats out there who have already got their places in their school of choice. -

:celebrate: Cheers to that! I am in MOE myself,( no, not as a teacher either) and i can assure you that MOE has better things to do and ARE very careful with how personal information is handled. Principals in general have a code of conduct to adhere to (DUH?!)P1 Mummy is just using scare tactics in the hope that address cheats will withdraw or not apply at all. In addition, this 'drama' has set me thinking... I know of many lawyers myself (family, friends) and even Senior Counsels, one of which has been nominated as an MP) I must say, i have a lot of respect for them for their humility, level-headedness, graciousness and oh, maturity too. They never strike me as one to blow their own trumpet, issue threats and especially to abuse their power, no matter the situation even if it involves their children's education...
Having said that, my reaction to P1 mummy is just this.. :whut: -
spikey:
looks like there is a high chance that p1mummy's DD will not get in...and then all hell will break loose!
Then I'll pop back here with my coke and popcorns - got good show to watch

Well said, LOLMum. We do not approve cheating. Many parents are upset /angry with her threats and arrogance. I am upset that she implies that SCGS VP could be so unethical.

Good luck to you magic8ball.. I'll see you on the 7th. I'm sure you'll be fine.
Same here - we'll both have daughters going to the same school! -
yesterday when I went to fetch my girl at scgs. it was drizzling and i witnessed how a mum nagged and scolded the guard (Not in his face).
I was standing at the guard post. I could hear her "cursing" and scolding, as she walks from the zebra crossing to the guard post. She was talking to her p5 or 6 daughter: "the guard so dumb-headed, there are so many school buses, why didn’t hold the zebra crossing and let you cross? So stupid. the guard so stupid so dumb headed."
My p3 girl who was behind this mom heard everything, managed to squeeze past her and ran to me.
the first thing she did was to whisper to me "mom, did you hear that? the mommy can’t stop scolding the guard, when it is not his fault. she scolded him dumb. why did she do that? and her daughter is listening to all the rubbish. she is setting such a bad example for her girl."
i hope we dont step on toes of girls of such p1mummy or the zebra crossing mum. hopefully the kids are not influenced too.
And for scgs drivers out there or soon to be (next yr). let’s be more considerate. when we drive to pick our kids up, pls queue closer to the car in front. I often see big gaps betwn cars and usually re female drivers. we cause a huge jam all the time and i wish we could set a better e.g. for our kids. a little consideration will make it a better place for everyone else.
