20 \tDe La Salle School \tBalloting will be conducted for SC children residing between 1km and 2km of the school.

-- The result of the SC priority ruling? Cos usually DLS if you r outside 1km...no chance. I think there's a lot of PR within the area.
      Hi oneheart,

I also think there are many PR in this area. Previous years both DLS & YTPS ballot for those within 1km. Now YTPS admits all SC & only PR needs to ballot.

There is an interesting observation for DLS. At the end of 2nd day registration, there were 113 applications. Then end of 3rd day, no of applications reduced to 99. Means DLS rejected 14 applicants? They are probably PR since they don have a chance even to ballot. So these PRs probably went to YTPS resulting in 30 PRS ballotting for 6 places as mentioned by snowball.

I am very sore about it. If govt had implemented the rule of SC priority over PR, my son would have gotten in DLS in P2C 4 yrs ago. I am within 1km of DLS and had to register CCKPS in P2CS which is 1 - 2 km away.

            Hi Caroline,

I totally agree. This SC priority should have implemented since day 1. The system should be refined further ie SC first for Phase 1 to Phase 2C then comes PR. Being near the school really helps.

              Hi,
There are indeed many PRs in our vincinity. I went 2 reg my DD1 at YTPS on Day 2 n was told out of 95 applicants, 21 are PRs (almost 23%). On last day, the no. surge to 30 (27%). Guess a no. of them withdraw from DLS n switch to YTPS for a chance. Agree that SC absolute priority shd be implemented from day 1.

If the priority for SCs was implemented last year, my child would have entered DLS in P2c without us going thru all the balloting stress for a sch >2km away. What a whole lot of difference the new rule makes! And a difference of only 1 year! It's God's will..
Agree that it really helps SCs if priority for SCs in P1 to P2c is implemented too. I guess policy changes tend to be gradual, one at a time, so let's see what happens next year.

Sorry, you did not get your child in 4 years ago. How about transferring him into DLS this year? Its never too late to get a catholic education.
