[Marine Parade] Primary Schools

pirate:
I am more amused by the fact that CHIJ Katong on the other side of Marine Parade Road is apparently in Bedok. :faint:
Hmm... apparently they have a way of zoning these schools, which is beyond our understanding. Nonetheless the system still go by distance and not cluster, ya? -
i)
surprised that CHIJ Katong no need to ballot this year, as CHIJ schools usually popular amongst girls.
ii)
if compare Tanjong Katong with Ngee Ann, is their academic standard on par ? -
Dear All,
I would like to register my daughter for Tao Nan but am not living within 1km. I hope to join SHHK but do not have 2 referrals. My daughter was born in 2009. Is there anyone kind enough to help with the 2 referrals? -
Chances of even getting a chance at balloting is slim at phase 2B and/or 2C, if you are not within 1Km. For the recent years, only those within 1Km were eligible for balloting.

does SHHK issue letters only to those staying < 1 km from SHHK affliated school (eg: Tao Nan) ?Dear All,

based on what criteria does SHHK issue letters to 2B folks ?
any SHHK member around ? -
Shhk does not issue based on distance to school.
Well, an active member and/or someone who has been a member longer may be considered over someone who is new or inactive., I supposed.
And also, it also depends on the number of applicants for the particular school in that particular year. For example, if the demand for reccomendation letter for school A is low, then even a new/inactive member may get it… Whereas, an older member may not get a recommendation if number of applicants for letter for his choice of school B is very high. -

That's right! I concur that. The length of membership is more important than the no of hours volunteering at the clan. Nonetheless, shhk has started a new system this year for members to volunteer at the school they want their kid to register. Hence, the criteria for the recommendation letter might change. I am not sure as my kid will be p1 by next year. Perhaps those who are shhk members and also sign up as school volunteers via clan can shed some light on this.Shhk does not issue based on distance to school.

Something new - allowing members to volunteer at their choice of schools. Then what is the difference between this volunteers and the schools? Perhaps that is the reason why KH has drop their PV intake from previously 20odss to less than 20 this year? -
Then what’s the difference in duty assignments between
KH group of PVs vs. this new SHHK group of PVs planted at the school ? -
phtthp:
As far as i know there are no difference between the 2 groups. Both have to perform 60 hours of volunteers. I also understand that TN and KH have dropped the number of PV intakes with effect from this year. I suppose this is inline with SHHK new policy. Then what's the difference in duty assignments between
