What is the source of this information? I can't figure out. Please help me understand. Thanks.
=== ==== ======= =========
Marine Parade\tTao Nan \t53\t79
Marine Parade\tNgee Ann \t118\t114
Marine Parade\tTanjong Katong 121\t138
The above extracted from MOE website after the 3rd day of 2C registration on Aug 1.
\t
Eg, There are 3\tschools in Marine Parade, total vacancy is 292, total applied is 331. So, about 39 kids would have to apply outside Marine Parade (Serangoon 7kids) after tomorrow.
Knew that there are many worried parents ... so I sum out all vacancies + 2C registered pupil (also from MOE website) by areas.. basically, kids in 2C phase should have places in other schools in the same area Except Marine Parade n Serangoon.
Total Primary 1 Vacancy For 2013 : 41920
Phase 2C Vacancy : 19996
Phase 2C Registered : 16159
Total Registered so far (1 to 2C
38083
PS. 1000 kids in Phase 3C is just my estimate.. So, for Phase 3C parents, probably can skip schools in Marine Parade, Serangoon n Clementi. -

When is this Phase 3C all about? A new phase? :lightrod:Area\tSchool\t2C-Vacancy\t2C-registered

For kids/parents didnt get a place in tomorrow's ballot, and if they would just pick a school within that area or zone, guessed that only 46 kids in Marine Parade and Serangoon would have to venture outside their own...
:grphug: so sweet of you to do the analysis.

But Marine Parade is a strangely shaped. For some people in Marine Parade, Opera Estate Primary in Siglap (\"Bedok\") is actually nearer than Tanjong Katong Primary. That's leaving aside CHIJ Katong (opposite Taonan but also in \"Bedok\") that is, alas, full after P2C. -
Hi Patlsy79,
I share the same concerns with you. If you are from this area, you should know....
As for LostinWoods,
I don't want to sound rude. Needless to say, you are really \"lost\". You should try figuring out why the places at New Town and Queenstown Primary (next closest school) are not taken up at P2C by now...LostInWoods:
How abt new town pri? Within 1km or < 2km? Plenty of vacancies at 2C

Unfortunately, you may have to consider venturing as far as St Margaret's, or Marymount Convent.I am in the same boat as you. My gals (paisei i need 2 vacancies cos twins :P) also due for P1 reg next year for 2014 intake. Piggy year, many children were born due to Golden Piggy year? I am living in Holland, directly opp Holland V, pretty near to Fairfield & HPPS. Both sch are within my area but, looking at this year results, dont think I can 'grab' a seat from them no matter 2B or 2C. Cos to Farfield my distance is 1.4km & HPPS 1.5km. I am not able to go for balloting under 2C either cos this yr 2c needs balloting for all under 1km only. Really hopeless here...how ah? sigh.....this system really
sucks. From now 2012 Aug, I got to be very stressed over this until next yr July for registration Sigh !! -

[/quote]You are right that I am lost in knowing both schools. The problem is parents are just being choosy and complaining when they can't get the school they want. The current system is not 100% flawless but changing it doesn't mean it will b better as one grp is happy, the other grp will b unhappy.Hi Patlsy79,

Do you know anything about these two schools to make such an implication? Perhaps you would like to share with fellow forummers here.As for LostinWoods,

Registration statistics don't mean everything. -
Hi
I went to New Town Pri school open house.
I was in fact impressed by the students and teachers. It was above my expectation.
My daughter likes the environment too.
