              Yes, SCGS is a fine sch. 10 years of good education in the same premise and going IP soon.

              Thats why so much competition to get in.
              Lets wish all those who were unsuccessful today will eventually get in later on.
              Right on :hi5:

              if there was a similar setup for boys -- i hv a ds -- i'd move hse to the area liao. :sad:

                I believe ACSP fits your bill - although ACS (Barker) may not be the best secondary school along this area....

                  Parents rent condo for better P1 balloting chance :-

                  http://www.edvantage.com.sg/edvantage/photos/1243954/Parents_rent_condos_for_better_P1_balloting_chance.html

                  SINGAPORE -
                  Parents who are desperate to have their children enrolled in the primary school of their choice have allegedly resorted to renting a unit within the 1km radius, The Straits Times reported.

                  Such applicants stand a better chance of getting a place in the school during balloting.

                  The paper said that they had been receiving letters from parents alleging that these parents would move out once their children had gotten a place in the school.

                  The Ministry of Education (MOE) said that children who receive the distance priority should be living in the address of their registration during their primary school education.

                  Cases of pupils who change their address within the six years will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the ministry, a spokesman told the paper.

                  The spokesman added that there have been very few proven cases of parents using false addresses.

                  In such cases, the parents were referred to police for investigations and the child transferred to another school.

                  Some parents are calling for the ministry to enforce stricter checks and clearer rules. They want the authorities to specify how long the family has to stay in a rented apartment and to conduct regular checks.

                      Ave rental around scgs: 4k a mth

                      24 mths $96,000.00
                      If the school accept donations to get a secured place in P1. a
                      All will benefit.
                      The school can build up a second wing to boost the facilities…

                        24 mths $96,000.00
                        according to newspaper report, it states that:-
                        The Ministry of Education (MOE) said that children who receive the distance priority should be living in the address of their registration during their primary school education.

                        2 years rental: costs $ 96 K.
                        6 years rental (P1 to P6) : will spend ==> $ (96 * 3 ) = $288, 000

                        Later on, if the child gets into SCGS Secondary (eg: get into IP track straight to A level ) :-
                        need another 6 years rental : will spend ===> $ (96 * 3) = $ 288, 000

                        Total rental costs from Primary 1 all the way up to A level, at SCGS =
                        $ (288 * 2 ) = $ 576, 000

                        underlying assumption:
                        assume no inflation throughout these 12 years of the child's life, ie. based on fixed rental charges per month, at $4 k.
