The situation at Nyps is not that bad this year. 33 applicants for 25 places. My DS got balloted into PH, with 39 applicants for 27 places. Nyps is moving into Toh Tuck for 2 years rt?

Sounded like MOE is closing a blind eye leaving it to the schools to police, and the school is treating it like a \"honour system\" through a lack of resources (hey they are in the business of education and not private investigation right?). And based on perceived \"rare prosecution\", and for the sake of the child, maybe it is worthwhile bending the rule(?). Yesterday's article mentioned some parents are even seeking shorter rental of 6mths near good school, a lottery ticket.a)

Schools that the paper spoke to said that parents risk having their child expelled if they are caught using a false address.
Nanyang Primary principal Lee Hui Feng said that parents cannot be faulted if they use the address of a rented apartment, as they are following the registration rules.
South View Primary principal Jenny Yeo agreed saying that the registration works on a honour system, where parents sign a declaration saying that the information provided is true.
She added that schools lack the resources to do follow-up checks on students as well.
Some parents that spoke to the paper said that they do not believe that renting a place to stand a better chance during balloting is wrong.
One parent asked if it would be wrong to use the address of a place that is owned by the parent, but the family does not reside in, to register the child in a school.
Aileen Lee, 40, a manager told The Straits Times that such practices will eventually lead to popular schools being filled with \"rich kids\".
Others also said that parents who indulge in such practices do not realise that if they move after sometime the children may suffer, as they will have to wake up earlier and travel over a longer distance to get to school.
Some others also question the values that the parents are imparting to the children.

Strange that there is such a big gap in preception between the ground and authority. Wondering who is right. :? -
Actually I dont see what is the issue with renting. Renting is not a crime and is a perfect valid way of living. In many countries, people rent their homes not own them. It gives more flexibility when one change jobs or need to be near elderly parents later on.
