[Bukit Timah] Primary Schools

I think teachers play an important role. Really Thank God that DS has a VERY good and committed Chinese teacher. So far, DS still ok. Of course, I have to coach him too, especially his Show and Tell.Taking HCL depends on the child. It's not easy. My son and I struggled when he was in P1...higher Chinese assessment books and standard is higher than normal Chinese. Even when he dropped HCL in P5, normal Chinese was not that much easier as it was new format.
A friend of mine registered her 2 girls in MGS as she is an old girl...but had a headache registering for youngest child - a boy. Couldn't get into Pei Hwa or Bukit Panjang...in the end, went to one school in Bukit batok area. She wanted school with affiliation but there are no schools around her place in hill view.
My husband totally opposite from many parents. He doesn't want DS to use DSA or affiliation. Want him to choose what he wants based on interest and academic performance. Maybe he will change his mind after seeing all the struggles in upper primary. -
Scary:
I also don't know what happened. A fren of mine was balloted out and heard her friends were balloted out too. Thought the odds were not that bad, 39 vying for 27 vacancies.
Or perhaps we have common friends......... -
My son isn’t good in sports…studies wise, not possible to use DSA.
Even if using sports or other activity, the results cannot be that poor either. If my child gets into the school using DSA, I am concerned whether she/he has time to study if it is compulsory to participate in this and that competition. Worse still, if have to go overseas. Sec school is no joke and with more subjects to handle. There is Literature, chemistry and physics…etc. I better not think of sec school yet…just get PSLE over and done with first. -

MOE state that \"every school is the same\". However, PSLE results above proved otherwise.
Thus, MOE may consider rotate current Head of Department (for 4 subjects) every 3 to 5 years from each branded hot, popular school to average neighbourhood schools, help to establish common Best Practices methodology implementation across schools that are weak in a particular subject.
Since MGS Subject HOD so strong in languages, can consider post them to neighbourhood schools, every 3 to 5 years.
example:
i) Chinese
MGS Chinese HOD can be posted / rotated by MOE, to help St Andrew Junior.
ii) English
MGS English HOD can be posted / rotated by MOE, to help Bukit Timah.
iii) Maths
MGS Maths HOD can be posted / rotated by MOE, to help St Margaret.
iv) Science
MGS Science HOD can be posted / rotated by MOE, to help Mee Toh.
MOE may also consider invite and hire back semi retired / retired Principals, Vice Principals, Subject HOD with many years of rich, extensive experience from hot, popular schools back to work on contract assignment basis -
ie. plant them in the average neighbourhood primary schools, tap upon their rich valuable experience(s) many years to hand hold and train the younger, junior inexperienced teachers from average neigbhourhood schools the best Practices motivational teaching method(s) cum curriculum, in 4 subjects. Then monitor the effectiveness from there on. -

NB. St Marg 1 SC, the other 25 PR has no time to withdraw and register at another sch due to last min registration by SC.
Not too sure if there are any PR that did not withdraw from the other schools but the number should be negligible.
