      Hi leine,

Bukit Timah Primary?? Too far away. I may be desperately in search of a gd Sch but not to the extent that I hv to send him to a Sch that is so far away.

I guess I will most likely opt for OEPS. If both of our children are in the as
Sch, perhaps we can exchange our contacts.:)

Btw, r u going to register online or go to the Sch?

        Hi bakebean,

        ... ...

So, bakebean, you have no concerns whatsoever on OEPS at all? I think most importantly, the teachers must be passionate and caring towards the students. Only then will the environment be conducive for the child to grow & learn.
Well, nothing is perfect, I do have concerns ... but I believe many parents do face concerns in other schools too 😄 I am learning to adjust (not lower) my expectation and think of ways to keep schooling exciting for my boy

If you are those super academic driven parent, then OEPS most prob not up to your standard. I do buy test/exam papers from SAP/\"Good\" schools, I can see many challenging questions which I don't see in my boy's school work or test papers.

I monitor my boy school progress rather closely and create own mock test paper by fishing questions from assessment books and test/exam papers for him. Therefore I am okay with the \"non-drilling\" environment.

I have friends who transferred their kids out from certain schools (not OEPS) after first year due to the non-challenging environment. They believe their kids can do more. No right , no wrong. Beside school, home is an important learning environment, parents are teachers and friends too.

Other than academic, school location was a major concerns which took me the longest (so far) to stop grumbling... LOL ... esp when comes to raining or super hot weather... unlike many schools, there are HDB void deck to act as shelter, OEPS has only a little bus stop. So every Tue and Thur are my \"exercise\" day cos I will deliver lunch for my boy and fetch him after his CCA.

Sounds like I am a stay-at-home-mum huh ... but sigh ... I am not, hence I am not active in this forum.

Well, OPES is also not my 1st choice of school ... But i have no regret in choosing OPES ( within 2 km ) for my 2nd choice last year.

My girl like the school so much that i have no trouble to wake her up for school every morning at 6am (to be in time for school bus) ... She like her form teacher too... And she gets to know the different cultures from her other classmates ... 😄
I noticed that the principal & teachers will be there to giude the children after school lessons when i went to pick my girl.
I feel that there is connection between the teachers & parents. The studying pace is just right for me ( A working mum ) & my girl.

Most important of all, my girl is happy , making alot of friends & no issue in copying the school work ... 😂

            Hi Jamum,

            Thanks for your encouraging message.

One of my concerns and the greatest regret for not getting into RS is the distance of school from home. Your girl has to wake up at 6am? Where are you staying and what is the pickup time for school bus? This is also the reason why I am considering BGPS so that my boy may steal a slightly longer sleep every morning.

            Hi bakebean,

Distance is always my first priority, that is why I chose RS. And till now, I am still grumbling.

Whatever it is, I will have to look at the numbers end of tomorrow to gauge my chances for the respective schools before making my choice.

                  Hi JAMUM,

6.45am sounds reasonable, not that early. The bus will alight each child at their respective blk or a common drop off pt for a few blks?

                    Hi HappyVon,

I’m not so sure as there is always another student waiting and dropping at the same location as my girl… the bus will pick up my girl from my blk ( there is another OPES student living at my blk taking the school bus )and drop my girl at the student care ( there is another OPES student going to the same student care)… Maybe u can try calling the bus company( the phone no is on the school website ) and ask them for more details.

                      Hi HappyVon and Jamum,

It's so stressful to register my daughter under P2C(S). It's definitely a difficult choice to make that is either to choose BG or OEPS.

My daughter was balloted out from YN under Phase 2C and I was utterly devastated and cried almost the whole day on 7 Aug. However, I've decided to choose BG for P2C(S) as it's nearer to my house. If there is a need to ballot again then I will leave it to God's will whether she could enter BG. If she can't, the next option is OEPS.

I was super concerned cos both of us (parents) need to work and we need to send her to a student care centre and I had registered with one at Blk 509, Bedok North St. 3. The results will only be out tonite on the need for balloting (BG). Let's cross our fingers and hope for the best.

All parents want our children to do well in school. I'm also exposing her to P1 and P2 syllabus. My younger daughter (K1) this year is currently doing P1 assessment books. She mentioned to me that the lessons taught in PAP sparkletots are too simple where she learns colouring, simple vocabulary and painting. She actually requested for more challenging worksheets. Times are different.

We could keep in touch and it's good to form parents' group session so that we could communicate and get to know the school, teachers and parents' coaching to their children effectively.

Kudos to us who makes an effort to nurture our kids well.

                        Hi Chipyswim,

I am going for BG too. R u within 1km?

I also hv a gal in K1 this yr. It’s nice to hear that we are in exactly the same situation. Hope both of us will get our kids into BG without the need for balloting.
