      My reply in blue

      yellow-dk:
      Advice needed pls, 😒

Child has T-scole 258+2 -Which school should he go for ?

      1) Dunman High -IP
      2) Hwa chong Inst -IP
      3) ACSI - IB (worry is that the school may not post child to IB as vacanies may be limited...)
      4) RVHS COP -IP
      5) NJC COP 260 - IP
      6) SJI COP - O level

      i) do u think we should choose IP over O level route?
      for me - yes
ii) some schools offer school base gifted education programme, is it really important to choose such programme if child is from GEP ?
      Of course
iii) does anyone know the no. of vacancies in each school ?
Call the schools to find out
iv) do we need to opt for all 6 choices?
I am not. I have only indicated 1 choice. πŸ˜„

      Thank you in advance :?:

My son's school, Fairfield, had 273 for the best pupil and my son only got 247(+1). My target was 250 for him... 😒 Anyone knows what good schools he can go to?

My son only had 4 points above T-score, which means my son is only slightly above avg. 😞

            VitoRelax:

still no one knows whether, all being equal, putting a choice as 2nd or 5th choice, will it affect the chances of getting in ?

            thanks
If all being equal and the final COP of the school is lower than the aggregate of the child then it does not make any difference whether putting a choice as 2nd or 5th. Definitely will get in.

If all being equal and the final COP of the school is EQUAL to the aggregate of the child then the one who put it as the 2nd choice will have a safer choice of getting in than the one that put it as 5th choice because when all being equal, than allocation will be prioritise by \"choice\".

If the \"choice\" is also equal then I am not sure. A KS parent here say it will be by CCA, etc but I am not sure because the entire allocation process is computerised. If CCA is to be considered, either it has to be input into the system as grades or maybe such cases will be decided manually (very difficult).

Even if there are 6 digits to the T-Score only whole number is compared. Is it correct to assume this?

NO..........the system will compare and sort accordingly to all the decimal places. i read b4 somewhere with reference to moe's reply of why pupils having the same t-scores but one gotten in the choice of sch while the other didn't.
having 6 places of decimal (quoted fr one of the forumer), the chances of having the same exact t-score will be extremely, extremely slim.

Yes, my friend in MOE told me that the decimals are compared & all students are ranked according to the decimals.

So, in essence, if the probabilty of having the same t-score is very slim, then can we conclude that it really doesn't matter which choice we put (except for those affiliated) ?

                  Thanks

My guess for the COP of this year's posting is that most of the COP will go up (especially the top schools).

I will probably place my choices as follows :

If my preferred school that is \"realistically attainable\" has a COP that is less than my child's aggregate by more than 3 points, I will try my luck for a better school by putting the better school as my 1st choice. (Though I think the chance is not high) The \"realistic\" school shall be my 2nd choice.

If my \"realistic\" school's COP is 1 to 3 points below my child's aggregate, I will not take a chance and will put it as my 1st choice definitely.
Oh... may i ask then how many shd a child's Aggreg be higher than a school if it is to be for the 1st choice? Pls advise thanks.

Nan Hua is a very good school, because it's stress level is just right and they have a wide range of CCAs.

I'm not so sure about Bukit Panjang, but my DD's friend went to the open house and has a good impression of the school.

Why don't you try Anderson Secondary too? It is suitable for those kids who want to study at their own pace. πŸ™‚
