DD is having prelims these 2 days. Yesterday was English, today is maths. Don't understand why the school sets prelims 2 days before the PSLE oral!
My boy just had his LC today. His Prelim written papers only starts on 22nd Aug, which is after the PSLE Oral. -
My DD had finished the prelims, even got her report book yesterday. At least got off 1 load.

We parents can totally understand how the kids are feeling now. To give them a setback at this moment is really not a good thing. I have pre-empt my DD that prelims will be much more difficult than all her usual papers. At least I hope it will mentally prepared her, and not receiving a shock when she receive the results. She is sitting for her prelims next week. This week PSLE oral, next week prelims... should have some time off after all this for recharge again!
I can understand how you feel. Not easy to keep cool or not to panic cos PSLE is near. Most schools set tough Prelim papers. That does not mean his PSLE will also getting borderline marks. Don't give up on him or he might give up on himself. He needs lot of your encouragement and support. All the best to your son's coming PSLE.Mayl:
DS prelim result is out for Math and Science paper very bordline marks like low 60 and 70 for both subjects respectively. From his body language knowing that he lost confident and so do I.
I am lost  as I want to control my evil words :stompfeet: but it so hard to control.
Now, I don't know how to sit with him for his PSLE battle. :stupid: -
My dd has finished her Prelims. She was quite worried that she might not do well. I told her to focus on this week's PSLE Oral and that Prelims is just an indicative of how well prepared she is IF tomorrow is the actual PSLE.
Thus for those topics that she feels she needs to practice or concentrate more - now is the time to do so !
So good luck to all DC who are taking Prelims in the coming week or so.
Jia you ! :rahrah: :rahrah:
Best of luck to everyone also for Thursday and Friday PSLE Oral !

Is it \"safe\" to say that oral topics that appear in past psle will not appear again? Of course last year's topics will definitely not surface, but what about other years? Ds tuitor ask him to practise those not discussed in the psle booklet, saying that those past topics will unlikely to be tested again. However, his sch teacher gave them a stack of suggested answers to past psle oral topics. It will definitely take him hours to read them, and I wonder will it do more harm to his already limited brain capacity?
It is unlikely that past 5 years topics will appear so soon. Can go through the much older ones. Chances of appearing will be higher. -

Btw, just met up with teacher and she mentioned that competition will be great due to dragon year and thus the 'bar' for grades (a, b etc) may be raised. :gloomy: -

Yes, competition is great. COP of top schools will be higher due to higher demand. Whether the \"bar\" grade will be raise, depend on the average performance of the cohort. Moderation will take place if the papers are too easy or tough. Most likely to be tough papers for this coming PSLE. All the best to your DC's coming PSLE! :rahrah:
