RL is known to give lots of homework. Even a HOD of RL told me before that the school has given so much homework that the students have no time to go for tuition.alng:

Previously, believe RL did churn out students with > 270 for a few years.....but last year's top scorer was a first time. Dun think will happen that often
Frankly, think all these do come with a tradeoff .... typically, the stress level is higher and workload heavier at schools that can churn.
RL also focuses a lot on the top class (ONLY). In 2010, 3/4 of the top class (29 out of 40) obtained 260 and above when the average T score was nothing close to the average T score of top schools. I
will feel upset as a parent if my child is not in the top class in RL. In my dd and ds schools now, there are more than one top class.
teachers) were given. Although there were students from other class
perform better, no extra enrichment courses was given to them. I think the school really wants a better results this year as compare to the previous
years. None of the students scored >/270. I felt very bad for the rest of the
20 students in the top class. As for my DD, who is in the 3rd class, the school had given up on her(them). I have to look for other sources to improve her academic results. :stupid:[/quote]Something goes wrong with the school system & education system. The kids are not treated equally & their potential might not be maximize. Too much focus on top students and majority of them are neglected. The education minister and the government should do something about the current situation. Feel sorry for the kids and parents. -
Does anybody know how the T-score is calculated when there are only three subjects? My kids are exempted MT, so only EMS… then how?

if you read the whole of this thread, it will give you all the necessary info -
wah, all 38 pages… i read bits here and there but mostly pertaining to 4 subjects. but ok, I will try to browse through everything. thanks though.

OK, I have read the entire thread… all 38 pages not including this 39th page which is headed by my question. I have found exactly 3 posts asking the same question I am asking, 2 of which went totally unanswered. 1 had a reply saying that they didn’t know exactly, but knew that those with MT exemption tended to do better than expected.
Which still doesn’t answer my question. LOL. So I gather from my painstaking reading of the 300+ posts that no one knows. Ah well. Thanks anyway. -

I may be wrong here - but I believe the t-score for 3 subjects is normalised to to 4 subject based t-score, perhaps they take the t-scores of 3 subjects divide by 3 times 4 ? I guess you can call up any school to check or email MOE -
no worries. Wonder if moe will reveal what is done. Ok, I promise if they give me a 'proper' answer I will come back and post it here. Thanks for replying anyway. It definitely beats no one answering cos they don't know.
much appreciated. -
