I will be facing the same problem as what you had next year. If northland turns me down, I will get my girls to Pei Ying. Have you considered navel base? If not, why? Tks.
Hi,
Can i know for Northland what phase your girl will be in?
Do u stay within 1km from Northland and Pei Ying?
Coz if based on this year, for phase 2C supp Pei Ying only left 26 vacancy. So it'll be bit risk if u opt to choose PY at phase 2C supp. But of course all this is just prediction coz we nvr know what will happen in next year. And also depend where you stay too. I heard this year for Northland, Singaporean stay within 1km also need to ballot under phase 2C. This info was from a frenz of mine whom is just like you still thinking to choose Northland or PeiYing, but she'll only need to register in another 2 yrs later. -
Hi Mitr, Navel Base was never in my selection list cos' I felt that Peiying is a better school if I decide not to let my girl go Northland. It's just a matter of personal preference

Hi Felicia, glad to hear that my girl will be school mates with your gal. I'm not staying in the 80+ series but 798 (the block with police post below)...so very near to Peiying

Hi all, any good tuition/enrichment centres nearby to recommend. Heard that P1 has to do 'show & tell' for English & the maths questions are also quite tricky. Currently, my girl attending CMA at Chong Pang.
Tough on young children these days

Felicia09, thank you for the message. Yeah, I am aware that I need to be mindful to decided if I can put a bet on northland. Frankly speaking, I do hear mix comments regarding northland.
I have managed to talk to someone know pei ying. I am a bit concerned with two things:
1) Acadamic: especially on the Chinese as they do not provide higher level Chinese.
2) Environment: I have been to the school myself. The environment is not really that great. But I am not sure how it will turn out after its upgrading work, starting in 2014, right? -
there is a KUMON just oppsite Khatib MRT. You can give it a try. It is not bad, but got home work everyday.
-
Hi Mitr, I heard that Kumon basically hands out worksheets to their students to do during the class. Unsure if the teachers do any real teaching. Can share experience?

Hi, my gal not successfully being selected in Jiemin, so i ve chose Peiying. Is a 2bus stop away fm my hse. No choiceโฆ I have appeal to Jiemin, but chances is v v slim. Very upset for it. In future I need to cater a sch bus for my gal. So is Peiying good ? I went to the school also,is not as big as what i think. academic likewise I really dun noe. I am staying at Blk 726, have chosen a student care under Aceachiever near my hse. May I know if the PCF student care near Peiying good?
-
Hi qq_guy, can empathise with your disappointment over Jiemin as your block is just a stone's throw away from the school. But since now our girls are in Peiying, let's be positive & give the school a chance...who knows, it may surprise us! Further, come orientation on 16 Nov, we can get to know more about the school

For student care, I chose PCF as it's near to Khatib MRT Stn & my block. For me, so long as the centre provides a safe & peaceful environment (for napping & doing homework) for my girl, it'll be ok. Besides, I heard that the auntie who prepares food for the children cooks fairly well.
Oh yes, the PCF allows children to join them earlier say in Dec. In this way, the child can get used to the environment & won't have to face too much adjustment when school starts. I intend to do so as my girl can begin to make friends with the other children who are likely students of Peiying. This is killing 2 birds with 1 stone

Hi FairyPenguin
Just a little feedback on student care. My son is in P2 at PeiYing (PY) this year and he is attending ProTeach student care.
I did a site visit to the PCF (near Khatib), MFS (Blk 796) and ProTeach before I enrolled him at the latter. I would rank MFS above PCF. The PCF student care didnโt impress me at all even though it was just a stone throw away from PY.
I find MFS has a better environment if you just want your kid to nap and do homework. It is on the 2nd floor with an inside staircase going down to childcare on the ground floor.
Well, as to why I didnโt enrol him at MFS (even though he was a MFS graduate) because I wanted him to attend in-house tuition classes offered by ProTeach.
Hope this helps.
