All About Church/Clan/Society Membership

Kagillus:
If pr siblings accumulated, next generation enter by alumni. Then Wat effect is that to? New incoming PRs?
There is no one solution that fits everyone nor please everyone.
If you eliminate alumni phase, there will be other unhappy parents as well. Its a good step govt has gone to ensure all s'porean will be given first priority over PRs. They cannot guarantee 100% will go to singaporean but at least you can see some visual result over the recent registration or years to come.
I wish they have done it last year !! -
Hi
I was told sch will actually see the letter of recommendation from clan/church for the duration of membership to decide whether you are accepted under 2b, is it true ?
I am christian since birth, 30yrs back. I got my membership in my church just less than a year and onyl recently i realised the membership can get me into 2B ler. Unsure if i have chance to get into my choice of sch or not huh… -

To prevent any Tom, Dick or Harry from scrambling & hurrying into churches last minute trying to obtain that letter desperate for Phase 2B application, some Methodist church Pastors truthfully state down clearly inside the letter to MOE when that parent had joined the church.
when P1 Registration offical read the contents of letter issued by Pastor, the school know exactly how long the parent had joined church. It is then up to individual school discretion to accept or reject the applicant, esp. if just joined very short time.
Call up both church and school. Ask school - minimal what is the time frame required, for acceptance ? -
we should respect on these clans/church/society rules. They set up schools based on their own resources, donations from members. Definitely, they have to tap on MOE so as get some Grants.
Whether the schools rejected or accept our phase 2B application, we should respect their decision. Is there a need to complain to MOE? -

Yeah i checked with my church, they told me this is not their concern how long the duration is. To us as christian, i thk most important is the faith and heart to God. ANyway if i dont get in desired sch, it's God wish i believe.

I doubt this is up to individual school's discretion since it's a national wide registration exercise.

Furthermore, there's no requirement by MOE on duration. They only need the proof of membership. It's really up to each org to decide on the requirement of membership. -

MOE doesn't govern this. Is up to the clan/church or even the school to set criterias on who they want to issue the letters to. Most criterias are set by the clans and churches, but I know of a school who has some requirements for the church members to fulfil before they will 'stamp' on the church letter. In this case, is the school's discretion, not the church.I doubt this is up to individual school's discretion since it's a national wide registration exercise.

I'm surprised to hear this. As long as you have proof of membership, you can apply and register at Phase 2B like everyone else. I do not think there's any discriminatory practice at the school side.
In the Methodist church where I worship, to prevent abuse, new members have to fulfill some requirements before they can get the P2B endorsement letter. Must be a regular worshipper with the church for 1 or 1.5 years and be a member in a cell group for at least 6 mths, something like that.
But I am not sure how strictly they enforce this , I hear the pastor announce for all parents to go to the church office to pick their 2B letter every year around the same period. It does sound like anyone can just go and get one

Not discriminatory practice, just that there were people who once abused this priority. To prevent this from happening, being a member for 1 or 10 years do not necessary guarantee one the right to register in Phase 2B. Someone who has been a member for 10 yrs can be a sleeping member too. Thus, in order to qualify for 2B, one has to be active.
