Why is there a need to transfer then?

Currently, not all schools have ready Allied Educators around or helper assistant designated inside each class to handle children with learning disability. Some schools have, some not yet, some don't. Or in some cases, if problem lies with child, Allied Educators may not help much. Every child is different, unique. Some parents may be approached to transfer out their child, if their child can't cope in that particular school, with lots of heavy school work / homework.

Thus, it is better for parents to find out first, before enrol their child into the school.

I had heard of 2 cases from NY but we have to be careful with the terms used. I don't think any school is allowed to ask any kid to leave. What I understand is the school will counsel the parents, analyse with them the situations. It's still the parents' decision at the end of the day.

is it due to the school's desire to maintain \"performace\" and don't want to see super low t-score among the results as alleged ? or is it a genuine need to seek a better / more suited learning environment ? if the child is more suited for Rainbow or Pathlight or Mind, then obviously is not suited for the standard primary school

to allege that the school kick out the students in order to maintain academic performance is a serious allegation thrown at the school

The teachers will not so directly tell something like you cannot perform please find another school. The students might have out-performed for a period of time and after the teachers have ‘lim kopi’ sessions with the parents and kids there are still no improvement then maybe they will hint to you that there are other schools that will benefit your children better. At the end, I guess, the parents automatically transfer the kids out. Just like in corporate world, in general, your boss will have one-to-one meeting with you if u cannot perform. If your performance appraisal has been lousy all this while and the company don’t see value in you … After a while you will tender in your own accord too.

this is not the same as corporate world. the school never ask the kid to leave. so why leave ? you have every reason to stay.

Precisely what I have said, the school will never ask you to leave. They will first observe, counseling sessions or meet up the parents to find what is going on and what support aids are needed…etc. But after exhaust all means still cannot produce result then how? I think the parents will find another school that best fit the child.

But all schools should be able to help all children of different abilities, unless the child has severe learning disabilities. Given this, no school should be asking any child to leave, or even ‘advise’ parents to leave.

therefore it is totally irresponsible for people to make sweeping statement that the school kick out the students in order to main its academic standard / because the student cannot reach the academic standard

Daughter of my good friend was in a very popular girl school but was transferred out coz my friend and her hubby couldn’t stand receiving calls from school almost daily. Her daughter is just an average student scoring 70-80 for most of the subjects.

almost daily calls for scoring 70 -80 ? seriously you are joking or your good friend is not telling the complete truth or just a cover for something else ?

I don't believe what you post. please name the school. SCGS ? RGPS ? MGS ? St Nick ?

and there is no obligation to leave nor feel pressured to leave

all these are hearsay from \"friends\" who may not be telling the truth for the sake of face saving.

if it is a case severe learning disability subsequently established by the school with the help of professional services, then it is a different story

I can imagine the parents for the face of not wanting their friends to know the kid has got some learning ability and has to go to a special school, decided to give a cover up reason to say the school advised them to transfer because of non-performance etc. So instead of transferring to special school, the parents decided to try other primary school in a denial mode, and continue to tell the story that because the kid is not doing well, hence told to transfer out to a less well known school. These people are not telling the truth except that the kid is transferred out.

I know of people doing just that
