That's why I suggested a centralised registration centre for each zone. Eg if there 5 schools in Tampines, they rotate to be the centre of registration centre. So there's a centralised information for that zone/area for parents to make informed choice.

Eg : a SC wanting to register at Gongshan realised the odds are against her. At the point of registration can change her mind to register at 1) Yumin pri 2) Tampines pri or Tampines north pri.

i.e. Will they withdraw to avoid a ballot, and the newcomer may end up actually no need to ballot? Or will they nevertheless proceed to go for the ballot instead of "便宜别人“?

If it will not make a difference, then, why all the talk about not informed of last min reg?

Like complaining for the sake of complaining…


Anyway… I guess it is no harm if MOE really want to update those that may be affected. Just mass-SMS those affected that "xx school need to ballot within 2km (disclaimer, does not rule out withdrawals thereafter)" etc… whenever status is changed from no ballot to need ballot.

How to do it, ask SAF, they are very experience in sending out SMSes…

If MOE or school informed parents who have no chance, i would see it as out of courtesy and moral high ground only. Ie if you decided what you want with your chance just like everybody else.

With Singaporean first, it does help in reducing competition at 2C.

However, it will be more helpful if MOE discontinue PR Sibling phase 1 as well (ie PR can apply only at 2Cs). This will help more Singaporean getting into their desired school. Having children at different school is tough but it is lot tougher for so many Singaporean to have to travel farther to send their child to school as they can’t get school near their house.

Entry into P1 Singaporean first, PR with sibling can apply for transfer after P1 registration. Getting children to study together is a matter of choice for the parent to decide, worst case their elder child join their younger sibling in their new primary school.

Yr 12 provided MOE with evidences and hopefully yr 13/14 will give them the will power to execute it.

I have confidence in all schools that are:

1) not named after the neighborhood/location
2) have a clear set of values, traditions n support of alumni
3) able to build upon n proud of its history
4) are able to offer programs for all levels, n not just cater to the gifted, well to do or mainstream( in the guise of 'holistic' education)
5) not built to be the phase 2c supp sch of the area
