The mindset of parents should be updated.

I would seriously prefer my girl (now Y1) to do 2 Sc, 1 (history or geo) and 1 (3rd lang) at H2 level, if she can cope. Otherwise 2 Sc and 1 humanity at H2 would be fine too.

I would suggest to take 4H2 unless otherwise.
Doing a subject at H2 level would give our child a deeper understanding (in Sc) or a better command (in art) in that subject concerned.

For the Revised Curriculum Structure, my understanding is that the school doesn't change a lot. As for GPA percentile, the 30-75% and top 25% can combine any subjects as before. The low 30%, however, are asked to cut down their subjects for long-run benefit, A-Level.

This is the \"beauty\" of an IP school.
The P or sch calls the shot and can start preparing for A level earlier.

Err....If my memory din fail me, thought i read from here that the sch removed the option for 3 S, not limit the classes ?

For this year, the students are allowed to take triple sciences as long as they qualify. However the 3rd science is considered as elective and not counted in GPA.
It encourages only those who are really strong in science, have good time management and have the interest to take the additional subject.
As far as i know, those who met the creteria and opted were all granted.

But if it is only considered as an elective and cannot be computed in the GPA,
then the pupils still need to take another humanities subj, which means a much heavier workload to them.

It is in their mindset or their parent's. Also science is a popular combination at JC level because it allows you to venture into almost all disciplines in the uni. According to P, RV strongly encourages students to take Chem as one of the Sc subjects which allows them to do medicine in U too, if they want to (?!?)
I am very surprised that NUS (medicine) would take in a student who did Chem but not bio.

I think somebody has mentioned that due to A level requirement on the contrasting subject, the 3rd Sc subject becomes \"reductant\" in the calculating of scores.

Most, if not all the schools, including neighbourhood schools have chemistry as compulsory subject since many years back, nothing new for this.
