Jennifer:
No worries. The briefing mainly informed the history/mission of OBS and flashed photos of some of the activites. There is a letter on what to prepare for the trip, think it comes tge with the medical checkup form.
I didn't get to attend the briefing bc my boy gave me the letter for it AFTER it was over!!! What was the briefing about?phankao:

My boy is going for Outward Bound - Marine Mobile this year. We attended the briefing. Seems much more challenging than boarding. Yes, I am worried
What are the other modules that other students are going for (other than OBS)??
Sg OBS has two types - Challenger and Marine Mobile. Difference is Marine Mobile has more days of water activities.
The other OBS is at Sarawak - think this is for senior high.[/quote]
This sound so much fun! Do they all get to do it? Nowadays school life is so varied. Last time when we were in school, it is only study study study

I think all schools have OBS or some Adventure camp in Sec 3. Not sure if it's a MOE directive. eg. Pri 5 camp is compulsory.Jennifer:

Jennifer, my boy is doing the Land OBS, not Marine. He says a few of the JH3s are identified for and going for the OBS Sarawak and they have to pay S$1000+. -

During boarding, if u do your own laundry, is there place to hang ? In the room or in common area ? Is the floor in the room clean or get dusty easily ? Must put on footwear in the room ? There is ceiling fan right ? Is there a need to bring portable fan/table lamp ?

No laundry line. There are dryers for you to dry your laundry.
Floor/tables/cupboards/etc, you have to clean it yourself. There are mops/pails available for your use in the washing/utility areas. But I just get my child those Kao Magic Cleaning Mop where you put a disposable cleaning wipe on to use. He's been using for 3 boarding years already. Everytime, I just buy a few packs of the cleaning wipes. I buy some for floor, some for mirror, and some for desktop/cupboards/other surface, etc.
Footwear outside room. There is a rack.
There is ceiling fan. But can be hot too, so many still bring a fan. Table lamp, up to you. Might be useful for the times you want to read or do some work, but your roommate wants to sleep. -
