I have to start 're arranging. Some shelves have 2 rows of books liao.

Done that - some shelves even have 2 rows of horizontal books (cos can take in more books) - can squeeze in 1 more thin book also good :oops:. Yep, I've reached that \"desperate\" stage!

I ever went three in a row (love the linnarp book shelves from ikea but they stopped selling that model).


Got a few newberry medal books from this book fair. Find that these books are usually great reads, no need to audit so much if it’s good. Spent more I usually do but no matter, some of these books not available from my usual libraries, lecheh and expensive to keep reserving.

Not sure when I can stop buying entirely. But figure I can cook up some new excuse to buy. Heh heh.

bought another batch of books yesterday with the discount from 10%, 15% and 20% respectively! :slapshead:

Yes, while I can resist the \"external' book fairs but my two DDs having asking to buy books whenever there is a book fair held in school I have resorted to asking both to \"shop\" for the books together since both have the same recess timing and compromise on which books to buy. But both give me the same answer,\" Jie Jie (Mei Mei) is reading at a different level from me; I don't want to share; I want to owe the book and put in my own cabinet!' :rotflmao: :rotflmao: But their \"own\" cabinets have already \"overflow\" into other cabinets/drawers and this poor mummy here have to always uncluttered to find more spaces :roll: :roll:

I'm fine and now are getting more free and relax since DD has entererd Sec 1 this year.

Your jie jie and mei mei are very cute lah! Same with you, I also have the problem with those \"overflow\" books.

BTW, I saw a series of CL comics \"ma xiao tiao\" selling at S$5.40 before discount at Clementi Popular.

For school book fair, how much do you give your children?


How does it work now? In my time, we only know of book fair on that day itself, on rare occasion, we knew of it a day earlier and were able to bring home a catalogue.
Partly due to no prior notification, Poor family background and parents not too into reading (to them reading and studying is different. Study is good. Reading is not), I never had much book money back in primary school. I want to be more generous with my child but not sure how other parents handle it.

When I see that ds2 will browse the Chinese section for bedtime story books and ds1 will self service the English section, I’ll feel all that money is well spent. Library is good and we do borrow loads of books. But some books just not that easily available.

Thanks hquek. So how many books can your kid's bring back with $10-20? Are they happy with the quantum? Sorry, I am not sure how to manage. $20 doesn't seems to promise many books, maybe 5? But on the other hand, $20 seems a lot for a primary 1 kid. Or am I just clueless?

Not a lot. Usually I ask him to bring back at least 2, 1 for him and another for ds2. Sometimes can have more. I’m doing the heavy duty buying so actually it’s more for fun.

I’m lucky so far that Ds1 has been careful with money. So I have not to worry during those book fairs.
