Teachers are rewarded if they moonlight…when they tell prospective students they are teachers, they can command higher fee.

Just wondering. Those locum doctors in private clinics are practicing as doctors in hospitals too, right?

Understand your point drawing teh parallel with locum docs. Are these docs working on a part-time basis with the hospitals and may be handling less critical cases? Imagine the doc who has to be called back for some emergency cases and he's tied down at the clinic with his GP duties.

Teaching is different in the sense that the teachers may develop a biased relationship with the students they give private tuition to esp if the teacher is also teaching in the child's school.

Actually are teachers from the same schools allowed to tutor the children?

Nope Lilac66, that's strictly not allowed. Too much conflict of interest.

Thanks for the clarification. If so, then the point about any biased relationship is not very justifiable.

Not that the other points some parents brought up don't stand.

I heard from one mum she is trying to get one teacher in the same school to tutor her kids but must seek permission from the principal. I’ve not c her then, so don’t know whether this is allowed anot.

Thought it's private as in 1-1 or small group at teacher's or student's home.

                        By right, NO.
Teachers are not allowed to give tuition to kids from same school. If teacher does that, it is direct conflict.
