All About Luggage

No matter how good the luggage, it will get spoilt through rough handling at airport. I only used it twice and then throwed it away or gave to the Bangla workers. You can actually see many people sells away their used luggage mostly used for 1 occassion.
oh, i forgot to say - try just bringing your luggage as carry on baggage. works wonders. no damaged bags. no waiting time for the luggage. no risk of losing your bag. as much as i can i try to do this. -

Most big airport uses automated luggage system. The black marks are probably rubber guides that the system uses
never get white luggage or any light colored luggage for that matter. i don't know what they do at the airport but any light colored luggage ends up with these weird black marks on them. -

I've 3 samsonites now. Feel like throwing away the oldest one although is still working fine (lots of marks / scratches on exterior). The locking mechanism is a bit stiff now (this is the really old type of locking mechanism, i think bought in 1997)
oh! yes! more than just being an established brand i recently had an observation about the new samsonite luggage (i cannot remember the range) - the design was not a flat shell, so it really helped aesthetically and with all the terrors our luggage face at the airport.
the samsonite zippers are those double zippers that can't be opened by knives or something like that. really sturdy. they may set you back a bit but they will surely last you longer than a cheap luggage. and they're lightweight too!
So ya... I swears by Samsonite. I got the other 2 from USA outlets, so they're relatively \"cheap\" compared to the prices here, like 1/2-price only.
Sometimes, I can't avoid having to check in lugguage, coz trip is more than a few days, + laptop + winter and whatnots.... More than a few times, my luggage travel around the world while i'm at the destination waiting for it. But end of day, the Samsonite arrives. Long ago, i used to have a belt clip around the luggage to further secure it. After losing this clip for a few times, I no longer use it and so far, my luggage have never broke open from the throwing around.
So yes, don't save on a couple of hundreds if you're frequent flyer. Get a good luggage.

I bought a suitcase in 1996 and it’s still in great condition, except for combination lock which has broken. Does anyone know where I can get it repaired? The suitcase brand is Ergo. I have tried Google, but couldn’t find any contact for the brand. I can’t remember where I bought it from either.
Hi, I posted the above earlier but have not received any reply yet. Have reposted it in the hope that someone will be able to assist. Thank you! -

In some hotels you can go to the concierge and they will help you book the bus to woodbury it is relatively cheap and the deals you get there are very worth it. I bought a lot of branded stuff there at like almost half the price. Go for the US brands and stuff like Coach is really worth it too.So Woodbury is in the outskirts, looks like need to travel quite a bit to get there. Is it worth it? Anything besides Samsonite that is worth getting? I told my dw about it and she asked me to get her some prada bags there if they are cheap. Any idea if it is worth it?
I have not been to HK before. But thank you for the information about Tung Chung, if my brother makes his yearly trip down, I can ask him to help me get a samsonite:) -

Hi, while enquiring for my luggage wheels repairs, I was given the contact of Mirrco Luggage Repair Centre (Tel 63397316). You can enquire if they repair your brand of luggage. However, we have not sent in our luggage for repair so I can’t give you comments about their service.

Thanks hypergatak. Will check them out.

You can consider Eminent. I bought mine more than 12 years ago. So far only service the wheels twice only S$5 or S$8 per wheels. forget the price liao. They have their own service centre.
I got my free American Tourister soft case luggage last year from OCBC. The handle break when i use for 2nd trip. I have not leave the house break liao. So undurable. Wonder got waranty or not since they said lifetime waranty. -
Thanks everyone for the recommendation.,
I am looking for a luggage , after reading i have made up my mind which brand i am gonna get for my upcoming trip.
