PM Lee: What future do you want for Singapore?

Time to automate. In some countries, you can go to self checkout counters. I don't know if I remember correctly but I think there was a Cold Storage outlet that has a self checkout counter.
Saw this at Cold Storage Great World City and NTUC finest @ Clementi Mall -
Nebbermind:
Really?! I've never experienced auto checkout. Maybe these are the trial stores, yet to be implemented island-wide. How long have they been implemented in these stores?Funz:

A few years liao, at GWC Cold Storage.... payment by cards, self pack... rather convenient... -

I wld treat teaching d kids to perform household chores as a necessary life skill n military discipline as two separate issues.
Can the same logic apply for a parent who doesn't want his/her child to do housework but focus on studies so as to do well in it? Isn't this part of the training and discipline? But then again, if I were to go through what you guys have gone through, I would have said \"it is right to do away with the cleaning! \"
With SG girls so demanding these days - only want to marry boys who hv achieve 5Cs n must help out in housework - it is a necessary pre-requisite to get hitch! :rotflmao:
Seriously though..
Yeah, instilling regimental discipline was d proffered reason for those tasks- area cleaning, stand-by bed, military drills with shining polished boots n smartly ironed uniforms. However, these tasks take away valuable training time n eats into soldiersโ sleeping time. With d reduction of time spent in NSF (it was 2 ยฝ years during my stint), n d high financial costs of bringing in NSmen for ICTs, it makes good sense to maximise d time for training n sub out d cleaning jobs. -

Is it easy to use? Not many choose to use those counters...or maybe they are not working.

However, if u want to use your linkpoints to deduct for the grocery purchases, then have to queue @ normal counters, else very convenient.Nebbermind:

It's easy, but some customers bring the merchandise back n forth passing the scanner more than once, cause double scanning, then the customer serv officers have to step in to help... the ang mohs are the frequent users... -
Nebbermind:
u didn't go thro it huh?4am :yikes:
W2G, u occifer trainee har?
how come so siong!?
lucky u.
IIRC, 4 am reveille
1/2 hr of 5 BX
run to Elephant Hill or thereabouts n duck-walk on d way back - takes abt 1 hr or so.
1/2 hr area cleaning
Washing up n change
Breakfast/Draw arms
Ready for lessons/training by 7.15 am. -
the auto checkout machines are quite \"intelligent\" too, the machine will not proceed if the customer try to \"smuggle\" any item into the plastic bag without scanning.... that's the reason it always jam n alarm siren, I guess
