For K1@ Sk Beijing under Zhou laoshi, my girl is copying what teacher write too. my understanding is that for this age, they are being "exposed" to more chinese character, they have yet to reach the stage to write complex stroke character… thus, copying is ok. but if tingxie copy is not right i feel. i will ask her teacher to kaypoh a bit this week.Let u all know the teacher’s respond ya

My DS is in Punggol branch. I was quite shocked when i heard from my DS. I guess the practise differs from teacher to teacher.

Appreciate if anyone can recommend me a good P1 teacher from Beijing. I can consider Punggol/Sengkang branch.

        Thanks!

So far, my girl is under Kong laoshi for saturday’s P1 class at 11:10am. The 9am class was full when we tried to register her for that slot. Her kindy classmate staying in Punggol is also in the same 11:10am class. I heard from her that some of her classmates changed to classes on sundays. Not sure the reason though.

Hi Heyhoe, I just checked with my 2 kids m they said that those who didnt learn their spelling will be asked to copy from the list n the teacher will either write above as corrections "改正"or "抄写"n no marks given.

Same here. Teacher will ask those who did not learn or don't know how to write during tingxie to copy from the list. Teacher will not mark or deduct the mark if words are being copied.

My girl who is P1 informed me that they are going to have composition test this week. :yikes: The problem is that she or her class is not given enough practice to sit for this test. If I am not wrong, there is only one example they have learnt or copied from teacher in her assessment paper. How can a P1 student sits for composition test and in Chinese? My girl did not attend their CW class due to time constraint and I don't think she needs one as her school will only start simple composition in P2.

I asked my girl last nite if they copied each other's tingxie in class. She gave me a shocked look and shook her head 😉

Hmm, my girl skipped last week's lesson. Not sure how she would feel about a test this weekend. But anyway, according to Beijing, they teach ahead of the school syllabus. So maybe that's why they are testing the kids ahead of the school's term 4 test?

Thanks, ladies. Perhaps my Ds misunderstood then. I’ll clarify with him when I go home tonight.

As for creative writing for P1, don’t think my Ds can do it as his chinese is weak.
