Hi YY1205,
Hi Dagong99, do you know the average score of EL? I haven't heard anything from my ds.dagong99:
But overall, DS2 is still below average, although he has been taking HCL since P3 in his former school. But still gave him a big hug since I know he had done his best. :snuggles: Just hope he can do better in SA.
Yup, EL is another killer for DS2 although there are kids who had done very well, at least I know there's one that had scored 36.5/40 in his class.
No, not yet because DS2 hasn't got back his paper but just know his own score, I'm worried too, just hope he can be at least above average, EL is his weakest subject all along. But I do know HCL, highest 46 & lowest 26 for his class. Pity the kids ....[/quote]
Hi Dagong99,
Suggest take the avg of 27 as benchmark fr Just4fun to see how yr DS performs. Btw, did yr DS1 get into DSA of his choice? -
GiftedGem:
Oh, my DS1 in NUSHS Year 1 now. He applied successfully through DSA for 2 school and had a choice between HCI & NUSHS but he preferred NUSHS as he's better in Math & Science and has more interest in them.

So far, he enjoys his school very much. They are doing Math & Science in deeper depth which is what he loves, so I guess it's good for him. So far, he has done very well in his Math & Science subjects. -

No, he didn't try RI at all, although it's an excellent school too.
DS1 had made up his mind to go NUSHS since P5. He applied HCI because we insisted, just in case he didn't get into NUSHS as every year, the intake for NUSHS is about 150 (max 25 per class). A bit kiasu right ? We chose HCI because we 'belong' to the more 'china' type and we want our children to take HCL. Being from the 'sister' school, so I prefer him to try the 'brother' school.
The school had also advised us to cap at max 2 or 3 schools as it can be quite stressful for the kids, especially when most of the DSA selection tests & interviews are usually done very near the prelims. Also, the usual popular schools will normally hold their DSA tests & interviews on the same day, so you may ended up giving up one or another. -

Hi dagong, Glad that yr DS1 has got into his dream school. How's abt yr DS2? Going to follow the elder sibling ? mine is bochap, no aim , no dream.[

Anyone can help to confirm what is the baseline %tage ? DS told me it is 75% but I thot it is supposedly to be 65% for Eng, while 70% for rest of the subjects ? :?

It's 70% for all subjects. English used to be 65% but was raised last year or the year before. So you mean there is a rise in the baseline again this year? My DS is P6 this year, so far there was no mention on the rise in baseline. -
Just4Fun:
DS2 is unlike DS1, still very immature, likes to play a lot, never study for exams, that's why I'm more kancheong ... DS1 more Kiasu, so I dun really need to 'monitor' him
