MOE not tweaking P1 registration

What I dun understand is why HSK would maintain that small class sizes are not empirically proven to contribute to better teaching when clearly... GEP has small classes.

Whilst I do not begrudge the GEP its privileges, MOE's word and action contradicts each other. It is puzzling that small classes are effective in GEP but not so for mainstream. Why?

Maybe he forgot that GEP got small class size? He also forgot that LSP classes are kept small for the purpose of better quality and more effective teaching. Or maybe he was thinking along 'production line' for the mainstreamers?

Even if someone from the ministry is reading KSP, it doesn’t mean they are doing anything, just yet.

Maybe... big class sizes make it hard to teach well. Teachers dun feel a sense of pride since they cannot teach as well as they want to. When you begin to think your best efforts don't make it there... you quit... give up.

Besides relying on the school and MOE to improve teacher-student ratios, I would like to see more parental involvement in schools. No, I don't expect parents to teach the academic subjects, but they can always help in other lessons in school. For example, parents can help in speech and drama classes, art classes, etiquette and character development classes, financial literacy classes, etc ...

Not when all the activities can only take place during office hours..

I have been trying to volunteer for activities with the PSG, but cannot find a single suitable slot. They don't even wanna do anything on Sat.

But even the GEP schools have 40 for their mainstream classes. Same for schools such as MGS and SCGS which I recently found out they have pretty good quality passes %, if not wrong, on par with RGPS. How do they manage?

One possibility is to test hard and so mainstream parents get tuition or teach at home? Another reason could be the flow over of GEP materials into high ability classes in GEP schools?

Again... I think it's good that GEP has all this. No one is asking to take all this away from GEP. However, I still don't understand how HSK can say that small classes don't matter to quality teaching when GEP and LSP have small classes.

So, T in a school of 1080 students would be already 1080/18=60 ya?

If there is 2 school that are EQUALLY GOOD in All aspects.. (Just, for example). Would the alumni send their kid to their alma mater 5km away, or the school next door? What you all feel?

Depending on which one is more prestigious? :rotflmao:

Given that everything is equal, the one with alumni sure put the child in the alma mater. The dilemma will only arise when the school next door is so much better than the alma mater.
