I think the sterilizer probably having some problem…the bottle can only deform that way under extreme heating

Urm… steam steriliser supposed to go up to 100 degrees Celcius only, right? If your steriliser is defective (or ran out of water), the rest of the items should become warped, too!

Yes, email Philips Avent and I’m sure they will be shocked! Old or new bottle!

After sterilising this bottle in a steam sterilizer, it became like this.

Is this a defect? Safe to use the bottle when it returns to its original shape?

Not safe to use. After sterilising, it shouldn't be in this way??? How long has this bottle been used? Is this a 2nd hand one? Or the steriliser goes haywire? :scratchhead:

I had a steriliser but never use. What I do I just put the bottle (after wash with cold water) soak in hot water & take out. 😉

Brand new bottle and brand new steriliser.

Edit: the bottle was new from a box and we probably used it for a few weeks or a few months (can't be exactly sure as we have 2 such bottles)

Yes, spoke to them and emailed them the picture.

Let's see how they respond back. Mostly probably they will ask to see the bottle and the sterilizer. Either way, it's going to cause me inconvenience.

I used glass bottles. I bought a rubber cover for the bottle. In case drop will not break.

But for glass bottles, instead of steaming, you have to boil right?

Looks like the bottle was exposed to Steam too long or at higher temp ?

Without other details, dat's how it looks to me.

Buds asked to check on amount of time in sterilizer, which IMO, Busymom shd do.

Juz checked the sterilizer box (can't locate manual), supposed to be 6 minutes. But hor, I think it usually takes more than 6 minutes. That's how I got the impression it is 12 mins.[/quote]Went to sterilise a few things last night and watch the clock. It turned out to be 6+ minutes. So 6 minutes is indeed correct, as what the box claimed. But it had definitely gone on for around 10 minutes before. I know cos there were times I waited and waited for the steriliser to turn off and watching the clock at the same time...

Once even get burnt smell... Cos no more water.

                      Over-zealous sterilizer?

my pigeon steriliser lasted more than 7 years without oversteaming. we usually leave it to steam and auto shut off then return to remove the bottles when they are cooler.

I have the travel size one - holds up to 2 big bottles. Very good experience with it too. After my old Avent cracked up, we were using this for the last 1 year until we have to get back a bigger one with the new baby.

I have no medical report to back me on what I did.

For my 2 older kids, I stopped sterilizing their bottles when they were 1 yo. For my 3rd, I didn't really sterilize. For the glass bottles, I poured boiling water in it and let it stand for a while. I bought a pegion brand clamp and use it to hold the teat and bottle caps while I pour boiling water over them.

I'm so lax with my 3rd becos one day while I was breast feeding bb, I thought I'm not sterilizing my breasts. So from then on no more sterilizing stuff in the machine for bb, way before she reached 1 yo.
