Actually our choices are about the same. Xin Min, Nan Chiau, Zhong Hua, Anderson. Have to depend on our kids' PSLE results.

XinMin COP dropped to 235 this yr due to Nan Chiau having become SAP.
      It's used to be 240+-.

As what I have expected. Xin Min COP has started to drop (236) since last year. Sengkang kids used to choose Xin Min. Now they choose Nan Chiau which is a SAP school & it is nearer to their home.[/quote]Sec Schs' COP depends on its popularity but doesn't really reflect how well it prepares the students for the 'O' Level.
      There are some such Schs....
XinMin is still very academics-based and serious in pushing its standard to the next higher level.

I agree with you. COP depends on popularity & we need schools banding to help us to choose the right schools. Maris Stella is much more popular than Zhong Hua but Maris Stella is a band 3 school whereas Zhong Hua is a band 2 school. In fact, I only get to know Zhong Hua this year & I believe not many people know the school. Once banding has been removed, schools might not push their students or standard as much as they used to be.

W/out Band'g, as what today Sunday Times dated 16/9 published- individual Sec Schs Principals shd come sound out their schools' Niches. Make known.
Other than Zhong Hua, we also hv other Sec Schs which hv been producing very consistent fine 'O' Level results, with COP of abt 235.

How about Nan High? Compared to BPGH, which one is be
              tter?

              Academics wise:

Nan Hua(NH) last yr Sec 4 cohort did well but still can't squeeze into Band 1. It's in Band 2, but in the Top tier of Band 2.

NH last COP is 243 while Bt Panjang ( BP)244.
Pretty close COP between these schs. But NH COP includes Higher Mothet Bonus Point while BP COP doesnt. So can guess which sch has higher calibre of students intake.

              In terms of niches:

NH recieved the Outstanding' Parnters this Sept fr MOE.
It's a SAP sch so a very Chinese environment. If yr kid is into this Chinese culture, this is the school.

BP is the centre of Excellence in Maths n Science.
It has Maths n Sci research Prog.
Next, it has Art Elective Prog, so kids into this forte may consider taking up this Prog.

So Both Schs hv their niches. It depends what u want.
              That's all....

Thank you for the useful information. 😄
