      Kiasucy:
This is not the first time I am calling for PSLE to be scrapped for GEP students who have achieved above 80% in GE exam overall. Am seeing these kids being drilled for papers after papers though they have gained confirm offer to their secondary schools. It is wasting their time and energy. They should be arranged to participate in CIP, leadership camp, character and team building programme, etc etc...

This is the most viable group to implement skipping of PSLE, but why no one hear it leh?
if GEP students who have achieved above 80% in GE exam can skip PSLE, why not get MOE to standardise and issue standard papers for mainstream too? then mainstreamers who have achieved above 80% in MS exam can skip PSLE and go for dsa like their GEP counterparts. then can save their time and energy and can particpate in CIP, leadership camp, character and team building programme, etc etc...

aren't the mainstreamers a viable group to implement skipping psle since bulk of tier 1-3 secondary schools consists mainly of mainstreamers who are consistent performers in pri schools? (ok, this is an assumption i make šŸ¦† )

Doing away with PSLE is too much of a knee jerk reaction to all the PSLE grouses. Parents in general have no issue with a national exam I feel, it is the over-emphasis of its importance and the over-testing of some schools that have riled many parents. :siam:

PSLE is suppose to be the common papers for all mainstreamers and giving them more time to prepare mah in Oct.

Schooling is but one part of societal needs. I guess since we are on KSP, the forum members might be sympathisers to such a position, but I am of the view that we already commit too much resources into education at the cost of other things.

Like what other things? Ministerial pay? šŸ¦†

Hahaha, you must have foreseen this ping pong ball flying over from who else but your friendly neighbourhood pirate. :imanangel:

From my observation after my ds attended GEP he still friend his mainstream classmates since P1 and still play regularly with his mainstream and GE classmates after school. I must say the ministry is very thougtful and successful in implementing the Tag class where GE and non-GE pupils sttend HCL and non-GE subjects togather.

I think we should stop giving out any more goodie bags to this 1%.

totally agree. if kids can't take exams at grade 6 why stream at grade 3 when some are not yet ready.

they have to work for it and prove with their result so why would it be a goody bag. Goody bag is like you attend a party and you are just given one. It will be less than 1% for not all GEP kids do well in the programme every year.
