Wow. I got the allocated school from the MOE today. We live near River Valley and the school is near the zoo. Could not be much further away. How on earth can we get our son there by 7am every morning?

Is anyone else in a similar predicament. What can we do about this? MOE say schools will not entertain walk-in applications.

Good to know I’m not the only one with a terribly far placement. We live in Bukit Batok (Hong Kah would have been so close to us), but they placed my daughter in a brand new school in Sengkang! The school looks great, but the commute would be over an hour long!! I called the ministry and the man I spoke with said I should start going directly to my local schools to see if she can be transfered/put on a waiting list. He said I must be sure to accept my current placement so I will go to register her next week and then start looking into schools that are closer to us. Good luck to you all and keep me posted if you have any insights as you muddle through this process like me.

A quick question for those who were allocated schools by MOE? Were you unsuccessful in the ballot for your first-choice school? If so, what schools are they?

I guess I am trying to find out which school now does balloting for Phase3. Thanks!

We were balloted out of Bukit Timah Primary school - 12 spots available for the 51 children who registered in phase 3.

We live in Jurong and we got posted to a school in Sembawang. Takes over an hour to get there. Have tried to waitlist in nearby schools but no luck so far.

What are you guys planning to do? I am wondering if I should homeschool them until we get a nearby school.

this proves that foreigners does not have an easy life here in Singapore… there are advantages and disadvantages on being a foreigner or a citizen, but I believe the favor is still always better for citizens… and am not complaining… they deserve more of course…

                        hi kzpw,
you should monitor the vacancies via this website
                        http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/primary-one-registration/vacancies/

prior to the start of Phase 3, the number of vacancies left for the primary schools (those schools that are fully subscribed in earlier phases will not be listed there at that point of time) will be listed there.
                        good luck.
