My P1 gal is told to "learn" 3 passages for dictation but only one passage will be tested for the coming test. This test counts to 5% of the overall score. Is it necessary to subject p1 kids to learning 3 passages? When I went to primary school, we only learn 1 passage at a time and it was only tested in upper primary.

My P1 gal's dictation only consists of two short sentences. It is unfair to give 3 passages to P1 kids.

Yum! The joys of dictation... I used to have those things starting in Pri 3 where 5 marks is deducted for each wrong character. I managed to score less than zero... more than once. Put me off CL for the next 8 years. So, now they start at Pri 1...

I thought I replied. Dictation is in English. Each passage has about 7-8 sentences. About 70 - 80 words.

I feel that the top brass at MOE should assess what each school is doing...then they will know what is happening in the schools under their charge. What do you think of this ?


Today is the 1st PSLE paper - English.
I wonder how the paper will turn out to be today.
