I guess it depends on the kids' standard. Some say it's easy some say it's hard.

DS painting in his room since it’s still too hot to be running around outside. He spotted 4 wrong answers already and when he found out, his reaction was "what? wrong again? Aiyo!" then back to his desk busy chatting and painting with his little brother. Don’t seem very affected. Even told me what’s done cannot be undone so no need to think about it just concentrate on the next paper.

my ds says the maths paper was super easy....easier than all the maths exams she has taken since p5

is MOE lowering the PSLE stds?
Easy coz PSLE set by MOE. Other p5 & p6 papers set by school.

Schools have been setting killer papers so that their students score better for PSLE. Coz u have to be better than most to get higher T score.

Also, they dun want to repeat PSLE 2009 where kids broke down & cried.

Compared to killer school papers, most schools will find PSLE easier. Two days in a row I've heard DD's schoolmates commenting that PSLE is easier than school paper

Hope more parents realise this and not get too upset when a kid does badly for SCHOOL exams.

Actually found the Math paper 2 to be quite difficult. Some of the questions are tricky and the kids didn’t notice the ‘trap’ and fell into them, thus losing marks. Paper 1 is manageable though…just hope they didn’t make careless mistakes.

It is actually not difficult when you have sufficient exposure. The 'traps' are to differentiate better pupils from the \"average\" ones.

What is done cannot be undone, why ponder over the past?
for some, need to learn from mistakes so that history don't repeat itself.

往事不堪回首,明天会更好!!
if most students dont find the math paper difficult and have scored high then one or two marks becomes very crucial !

As such, there may be fewer people getting A* if they moderate from 91 to 95??

Goodness.

Let's see how it will be for Maths and CL.

So far, English is ok, Maths is easy, Science is easy?, CL even easier??

Wow ! maybe MOE wants to encourage us to believe that PSLE Is do-able !!

🤷

Glorymum, do you know how does this moderation work? If it's just simply moving A* around (ie btw 87 to 95) , there will be no change in mark. In this case, T score will remain the same right?? :?

Or is moderation means changing the mark that a child score? For eg, if the child score 93 for Math. But Math was moderate downwards, then 93 became 90. Then the child will get A instead of A*???

If moderation is changing of mark, then if it's moderating upwards, then the child who score 100 will be \"lugi\"??? cos cannot add anymore marks??? but those 98 became 100??? :scratchhead:

To me, A or A* is not impt. It's the marks that count. Some children can have 2A* 2A but still lower than those with 4As.

hi yukilei,
Will get you the details of how moderation is conducted when i succeed in landing a job in MOE - have been trying to since they announced the \"attractive\" pay increase. :rotflmao: .
my take on moderation was simply hypothetical.
anyone has more info on how moderation is conducted in the past? please share.
87 for A* ? i thought need to be 91 and up?
