Then one day while chatting with her, slip of her mouth she told me she has been praying I won't get pregnant so that she has less work to do (I have only one child). After that, I thought she was very selfish to pray for something like that.

Nowadays a lot of maids are not seriously here to make a living. I have heard of a number of cases where maids come up with silly excuses to transfer/ go home when they are told that their mdm is pregnant.

When we told my ex-maid that we will be expecting a 3rd child, she was all smily and even congratulated me. I thought to myself that maybe this maid is different from other maids. But was I wrong about her coz she definitely has some other agenda in mind. So I left it at that until the day I found her sneaking out of the house in the middle of the night.

When I think back, she must have thought that we will not fire her coz of a new addition to the family, she will be more valuable in the household. So start doing things that make us feel that we've been taken for granted. Anyway, good riddance.

Yes powerpuff, I thought there was something odd about her style of praying but if there is no concrete envidence we can’t do anything except to give her the benefit of the doubt. Despite this, I put up with her for 3 years. That is why I say how we treat our current maid now is shaped by our past experience with our previous maids. This is very true for me but I m not sure about other employers.

Thanks autumn. It was very painful for me. I did 1 week confinement last week. Am feeling better now. Just surprise that when we pray we ask for betterment of people why would you be praying for that person not to get pregnant so that less work to do??!! It feels so wrong.

Peapot, do not despair. We tried for almost 1.5 years for 2nd child and was going to give up as age was catching up. Focus on getting well and strengthen yr body.

Yesterday , I just out for few hrs . Came bk my daughter told me that my maid scolded my son for taking up his toys to play . Ask him to keep the toys . My son asked her to help but she was angry .my son said will tell me . You know what she says , tell lor ! My son goes childcare for weekdays . Can’t he play with his toys during weekend ! So angry

10 yrs ago, my 1st maid was an Indo who ernestly came to SG for the sake of providing money for her family. She had the right character and stayed with my family for 3 yrs before gg back to get married. Subsequently, I had both Filipino and Mymar maids before I just got back this new Indo maid for 6 mths.


Got bad experience from this agency. Claimed to be Case Trust but the maid is a real issue. This fresh Indo maid who is 23, married with 2 kids worked for my family for 6 mths. The 1st 3 mths was a nightmare. Hygience is a key factor. DD’s water bottle when half drunk, she would pour back to the clean jug. Next, told her to cut the water melon, she left the other half in the store room over nite w/o putting into fridge. Even when she washes the pandan leaves, I told her repeatedly to look out soil in the stem and yet she claimed she had washed properly. When saw her the soil, she just smiled w/o saying sorry. When she gave a cup of hot drink to my girl, she would hold the handle and expect her to hold the hot cup. I wondered if she is ignorant or not but somehow, my 50 dental floss was consumed at high rate without my notice. When I qn her, she denied until I deliberately told her that I had the camera hidden. Then she confessed. I told her that that was for my own use and not for hers. I sent her back to agency and was ‘counselled’ though I told the agency my intention to change as character flaw is a concern . Told me the transfer maids not recommended. When I chose one of the fresh maids, told me that it was taken.

Ended up, I retained her for the next 3 months and expected, she either broke my window pane, telephone with ‘too much’ water and bodum jug. Also, she told lies that she had cleaned the toilets which she did not. Best of all, she was very good in doing short cut cleaning. I told her before repeatedly not to make me scold her if she did the job properly. Seems to turn deaf ear. The best part is that she ran away fr my house and went to agency. Claimed that she could not ‘tahan’.

I was pretty upset and that I wanted to repatriate her back to Indo. However, she still owed me another 2.5 mths o/s. Agency then suggested me to transfer her which I wasn’t keen. This agency told us to transfer her out and then, we could get our refund. Got to realise that the transfer means extra 2 more mths income for agency. When spoke to the boss, she claimed she would transfer to her own name when I insisted that I wasn’t keen to transfer her to other employers at their expense. When I asked for black and white to ensure that she would not transfer to others, the boss claimed that she could not do so as she alrdy had a transfer.


Boils down to $$$ and repeatedly asking us to transfer to take new ones. Got to realise that the transfer means extra 2 more mths income for agency.

I just got a transfer maid. The agency added 1 month pay to the remaining loan of the maid for the period of 20 days she was back at the agency. Then I paid for the new total amount of loan. This maid has been working for 9 months in SG and still have not clear her loan. i.e. start to earn money. Plain exploitation.
