Yup, i understand not all moms have that option. That was why i iterated that it was a personal choice due to the circumstances at that time. Not that there were no other options. If it sounded that way, it was not intentional.


Because i had to rely on my mumsie as alternative caregiver when i returned to work, DD1 adapted to the bottle regardless for formula feeding or having the bottle filled with expressed milk with much success due to alternate bottle feeding/direct latch on feeding sessions. There was no fuss on the baby's end if i fell sick or if i had to work late and anyone could feed her... whether it was expressed breast milk or formula. I didn't have to supplement cos i had a lot of milk. The fridge cudn take anymore spares! So there were many many times i had to discard. As infants didn't really drink much expressing 300mls ++ every 2 to 3 hours was tiring and i had mumsie complaining the fridge was taking up a lotta space and no, we didn't have space to place another freezer.

The mastitis occured due to severe engorgement... because i wanted to catch up on sleep due to exhaustion. I thought skipping one session of expression should not be a big deal since baby slept longer than usual. I should be able to still express without pain or so i thought. But i thought wrong. I thought my melons were going to burst anytime. My breast pads were too full that milk seeped thru to my tank top and bed. :shock:

If i wasn't on a tick-tock to resume working so soon at that point in time, perhaps i would not mind enduring the pain for a bit and just work normal panadol, hot compress, massages and of course not forgetting the wonderful cabbages.. :please:(yes, i swear by it!) :rotflmao:

I missed having DD1 latch on so much during those few days..

I will never ever deny that the babies to date are the best healers for blocked ducts and engorgement episodes. Period.

After we had more babies after DD1, hubs oredi understood the cycles very well and we both paired up our routines like clockwork and i never got ill again because of that. He also likes to tease them, (and me!)...after bf-ing sessions, \"How? Full tank oredi?\"

Yeah, I expressed while working with no.2 who was the only one who was happy to accept the bottle.

The others I worked around them. For no.4 most tiring. I came back every 2 hours to nurse him directly. He's still nursing at 4yo lah.

I am not sure if Breastfeeding Mothers' Support Group (Singapore) is still selling the breast pumps. If they are still selling, their pumps are cheaper than retail prices. Do contact them. If you are a member, you get further discounts. If you are not a member, I am one and I can \"loan\" you my membership.

hello, 1st posting here.


I am currently still bf my girl at 14mth+
Daily schedule will be latch/pump out excess (morning), pump (mid aftern at work), latch after dinner/b4 sleep, latch middle of night (she doesn’t sleep thru).

Hoping to continue feeding while dropping the mid aftern pump. ie 1 pump a day.

could someone comment if by their experience, is it possible to maintain bf (latch morn/evening/night) while not pumping at all please?

of the mummies i knw, most did not bf further than 1yr+.
