i don't know where to post this question, so just tag here.
my ds1 has this burning question which i have no answer...
\"why am i born myself and not someone else? why am i your child and not someone else's child?\"
:?
any idea how to approach this question and what is the underlying issue? -

I'd look him in the eye and say...\"it doesn't matter why! I only know you're my child and that makes you a wonderful blessing for me!\" and then give him a big hug!
- If that's just a simple question for affirmation, that that should do the trick.
- If it is a question of identity vs a Higher Being, then this would warrant a sit-down talk I'd think of who he is in the universe...
- or  an inpromtu discussion of the birds and the bees??!?!
What was his expression/psyche like when he asked that question! -
Andaiz:
If he said it in malice cos he wished that he could have what other children have and felt deprived, then you have to reason with him e.g. why he can't have that PSP while Peter can etc. My kids sometimes do such comparisons to try to get what they want. I'll also use comparisons to make my point e.g. compare them to the poor third world kids who go hungry every day to let them know how blessed they really are. I insist my kids read the papers so that they are aware of all those sufferings around them.
