Yes. I agree. Everyone has their own abilities, strengths and passion. Hence, everyone's 'mountain' is different. Hence, one's perspective of a summit may not be the same for another. For example, getting a presidential scholarship is a summit or an aim for one but perhaps just getting a job she enjoys if a summit or an ultimate goal for another. It all depends. I strongly believe all RGS will succeed in their own way and reached that summit of theirs! :rahrah:friendship:
out of about 30,000 climbers most probably only 5 can make it to the summit. Only 5 got the President Scholarship out of about 30,000 co-hort.
Every person doesn't need to aim for the same mountain top. My mountain top right now is to coach my older girl (not the one who got into RGS) in 'O' level maths! I don't need her to be a PS, just grasp 'O' level E maths is enough for now. And even for my daughter who will be in RGS, I don't ask her to be a PS, just to find her own (realistic) 'mountain' and do her best. -
Regarding use of Mac in RGS…does every student need to have a Macbook (Pro/Air/?)? Appreciate any advice. TIA!

Hi sautille,
Yes, every student needs to have a macbook pro/air.
You can refer to this website for more info:

Thank you strangequark. The RGS 1:1 website is quite useful.
I am concerned about the weight of my daughter’s school bag. Unfortunately, this is not answered in the list of FAQs. -
the laptop usually hand-carry.
purchase those bags from Apple store. -
Can I just jump in with a couple of questions about computer use? Do the girls bring the computer to school daily? Do they use it a lot for classes and homework? How is the computer support in school? Any comments about which model is preferable (Air/Pro)? We’re going to have to get one next year when we get back to Singapore, and we haven’t decided which yet. Thanks!

Yes, but is the lack of a large hard drive a big drawback? Also, do you have any responses to my other questions? Thanks!slmkhoo:

Yes, need to bring on every school day. There's certainly daily usage where my girl is concerned - homework, assignments, group projects and discussions, notifications from certain teachers....
We bought a Pro but on hindsight, Air would be better as the kids dun use discs; lighter too. If the laptop is bought from the school's approved vendor, can just send the laptop to their service centre, within the school, should any problems crop up. -

They only had one model each for Air and Pro. They had other options like add on insurance, s/w etc. Comes with 4 years maintenance. I bought an Air for my girl. Space, performance is not an issue. Its much lighter for her to carry everyday to school.Lenny08:
