Hi julongmum,Hi fxchow,
initially must pleat for my DD cos she doesn't pleat her hair, only tie pony tail in pri sch, so she doesn't know how to pleat. maybe later when she can pleat, then let her do it herself. That's why I am also not master, must practice more. But I would say it is not easy, my hands feel a bit jelly or 'sour' in the course of pleating. BTW, must be 2 plaits hor.
We stay in JE. Still considering whether to appeal RV.
Must be 2 plaits ma? My girl thought to tie 1 plait as she feels shy to have 2 plaits.
So you put first choice RV ma? -

Ya, 1st choice Nan Hua.
In fact, I also wish my girl can go RV but her T-score below 250, so I think the chance is very low and didn't put first choice. -
fxchow, there r 11 classes of sec 1, our girls would be schoolmates, if not classmates.

We have also chose RV as first choice, NH second. Also considering to appeal RV if cant get in but my daughter now says she prefers NH to RV. Headache.
Btw, I heard from the girls in NH that 1 plait is acceptable. -
during the principal speech on open house, he mentioned must be 2 plaits. I couldn’t have mistaken as also seeing all the long hair girls with 2 plaits le. Maybe should reconfirm again on the orientation day. Btw, are parents allow in the sch with their children on the orientation day ie 23 Dec. How long is the event? Are we suppose to get the new uniform and text books there on the same day?

Hi Kiasu Parents, does any of you have kids who are currently studying in Nan Hua Secondary? :? I am eager to know more about the school. :)))))
Hope someone can help me! :?:
Thank You very much! :thankyou: -

Greetings from London.
On holiday but cant resist to logon to this website. ha
Yes, buy uniform and text books on the same day. Report 8.30am, starts at 9am and ends 12 noon. Website says bring around $350. -

Hi jocondo,justsay:
May I know where do you stay ? We are staying in Woodlands and have known at least 3 are going Nan Hua. Maybe we can talk to some bus operator if can gather more staying around same area.
Hi justsay, me also stay woodlands, son taking PSLE next yr. I estimate he'd be around 240 to 250 range so now researching for potential sec schs based on this assumption.
So far i've been eyeing schs such as : catholic high, BPGH, anderson, swiss cottage, xinmin, yishun town. Never tot of Nan Hua since it's so far.
Could you share the the reason you choose nan hua over other nearer schs ?
And may I know what your other top choices are ?
Thank in advance !
Sorry for the late reply as we are travelling still in London at the moment.
Staying up North has in fact limits our children in their choices.
We were like you, Nan Hua has never come across our mind during the shortlisting process. Even when someone suggested to us and we thought it is so far until we went to the open house. Our choices initially were RV, Bukit Panjang, St Nic, Anderson.
All of us who went to Anderson do not like it ( as mentioned in other thread, it is our personal preference and opinion).
My daughter prefer mix school so not for Cedar, Crescent and St nic. Anyway these schools are very far too and not applicable to your choice.
We left with RV, NHH and BPGH.
We choice RV as 1st choice as it is what she wanted all along. Her predicted aggregate was above 255 but she has gotten only 249 plus 2 for HMT. Last year's COP for RV was 254.
BPGH has well behaved students, niche in Science (my girl is stronger in Maths and Science), band 1 O level results and it's nearer.
NHH has also well behaved students. My husband was very impressed with the Sec 1 girls who brought us around during the open house. I was impressed by the graduates who went back to school and spoke to us. Well mannered and well presented. As I said, I would be happy if my daughter can behave like them in years to come (though she is well behaved now) . Environment truly can affect them in their growing years.
NHH has achieved excellent O level results, all express students, no NA and NT. SAP school and autonomous.
Though their COP was 243 last year, not to forget that they have 11 classes of express students, which means 480 students. Should they have only 5 or 6 express classes like most of the other schools, the COP will definitely be much higher. So in a way it may not be correct to conclude that NHH has lower COP than BPGH. Take for example St Nic, since they have affliation, they take in only very few classes of non affliation students. Should they take in 11 classes, do you think the COP can maintain at 249 ? There are many factors to consider, comparing schools based on COP on the surface is not sufficient.
The have also nice enviroment, bright and breezy. Full aircon classrooms and hall. They are niche in performing arts which my girl wanted to continue dance as her CCA.
They have also tablet PC program.
I must agree that it is far but daddy likes the school very much too so he'll send princess to school (office nearby) and mummy to fetch her. The easiest way to go there by public transport is by taking MRT to Jurong East and then take bus 97 or 197.
I am not sure about Xinmin but I heard it is good. Find out more about Yishun Town. In my opinion, the COP went up from 220+ to 237 just bcos they have announced to be autonomous. There is no track record in their O levels banding though it is the nearest school to Woodlands with COP close to 240.
Wish you and your son all the best!
