      Seems like COP take precedence to banding.

        Had placed TKSS as 1st and Chung Cheng as 2nd choice.... but in my heart still think if this is right choice or not since chung cheng has higher COP and my dd qualifies for both schools....

        TKSS will go thro if trend remains same. what is point in putting higher COP school as lower preference , unless you want to appeal to that school later on.

        Appeal only works , if you put as first choice...

          Why not TKGS? going by COP is not a good idea. Is is better to go by \"value added\". Comparing Chung Cheng, TKSS and TKGS; TKGS has the lowest COP, but TKGS manage to teach the children to Band 1. While CC take in children of higher result but only end up in Band 3.

            Hi2mom:

            my daughter is very obsessed about IP, but the question is, what are the advantages of IP? I heard somewhere that if one drop out of IP, it'll be like he/she hasn't even graduated from secondary school and well, are there that many schools that consider IP???

            :? :roll: :roll: :roll: :roll: :roll:

            Hi2mom, many peoples have the wrong concept about IP. So was I, one year ago. But now, I am very comfortable with it as my dd is in IP and after observing the progress of her seniors. The school is more \"kan cheong\" than you on how well they can progress and cope.

            There is no such thing as drop out of IP. Its either you get retained one year, promoted with conditions or move to \"O\" level class (1 class only). Every samester, the school monitor their results closely, get them attend remedial lesson if necessary. 😄

            One IP school does ask some students who cannot cope to leave the school. But only very rarely, like one or two students a year kind of thing.

              Good news for everybody :celebrate:

              This year the COP will be lower than last two years except for the top 4 schools. Here is how I came out with this forecast;

              Comparing the number of students that go to Express from year 2006 to 2009 and the COP of a few of schools.

              Looking at the number of student going to Express as followed;
              2009 - 29730
              2008 - 30797
              2007 - 30902
              2006 - 31451

              For example using Cedar Girl;
              year 2006 - COP of 248
              year 2007 - COP of 244 (reduction of 500 students)
              year 2008 - COP of 244 (reduction of 100 students)
              year 2009 - estimated COP of 242 ( reduction of 1000 students)

              likewise for Anglican and TKGS

              :celebrate:

                make sense but quite unlikely for Cedar as the last two years they are at holding site, now just moved to their brand new campus. During the open house, saw some 260+ students make enquiries.

                  I think your dd has made a good choice.
                  Both schools are good.
                  See what CCA she likes, and whether she is inclined to chinese culture.
                  My ds applied TKSS. Somehow the school striked a chord in his heart. He fell in love with it the moment we stepped into it. He said he liked the enthusiasm of the teachers and students. And he somehow feels connected to its surroundings!

                    Hi CrazyDad,
                    Very good analysis you made. I think a lot of parents mistakenly choose a school by its cop, forgetting to consider the banding and value-added as well. :salute:

                      Hi CrazyDad,

                      Another reason why the COP may drop slightly could be the setting up of new schools like SST and SOTA. They will surely take the better students so let the leftover fight for the remaining schools, hence the COP may drop.

                      Only time will tell.

                        Hi Finder,

                        Do agree with you. I went to the open house too. The new campus is beautiful, isn't it? Guess, a lot of dd will just fall in love at the first sight :love:

                        But going in to the school from bus/mrt station is pretty far. What is your strategy?
