Hi Hi,

My DS will be in Respectful class.
Am so excited about the orientation. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Can any mummies advise the following as cant find the details from the orientation letter?

1) Are we allow to wear sock and shoes without Rosyth logo?
2) How many PE attires are needed for a week school?
3) What are the CCA or extra class for Primary 1 level?

Cheer!

Hi,

No need to wear sock & shoes with Rosyth logo, normal white socks & shoes will do. At least2 PE attires as Wed to Fri need to wear them. Can check their website for CCA but P1 not compulsory. Suggest don't stress yr kid too much by joining CCA in P1 as he/she needs time to settle down in the sch. Never heard of extra class, u mean remedial class right?

I would recommend 3 sets of PE attire to cater for all the 3 school days that require PE attires and in case of rainy days. 2 sets of school uniform will do.
Hi Pen88n,
Thanks. Does it mean they will have 3 days of PE lesson?
Is it safe to buy 3 sets of PE attire and 2 sets of uniform to last a week of schooling?

Hi,

How will be the crowd like for buying uniforms and books?
Is it advisable to buy them on the next date or maybe buy books from popular bookshop itself?

The timing is from 12pm to 2pm .. Lunch time ... ๐Ÿ™

Yes, so far this is the timetable for my lower primary kid - 3 days PE attire and 2 days uniform. Last a week.

Hi awhuang,

Thanks for the informations on the shoes and uniforms.
I thought CCA is more on non-academic aspect of school life? I think my boy will have more fun than stress during CCA where he will get to know more friends and the new environment?
Just thinking good to spend more time on enjoying CCA before the work load goes up on upper level.

Understand from the letter, extra class organize by PTA so I would think not referring to remedial class. So wondering what extra classes are they.
CCA usually starts before school as lower primary is afternoon session. So kid will have long day in school and can be very tiring for them, esp. P1. On top of that, need to address the lunch issue before school if kid join CCA. CCA is not required till P3 (and it will continue till P6), so your kid can have some time to adapt to new environment instead of plunging head-on into a hectic schedule.

Enrichment classes organised by PTA are usually on weekends (Sat or Sun) conducted in school compound. List will be provided to parents and up to you if you want kid to join classes. Can be musical or arts lessons or others.

Books can be bought from Popular. Uniform can be bought from vendor stall somewhere in Serangoon NEX area.

However, if you do not wish to travel to buy items, it is better that you quickly queue for the uniform first, as it requires kid to try out (or bring along a T-shirt to measure). If you are buying full set of books and stationaries, bookshop usually have packed ones so it is easier. For kids need school bus service, don't forget to go to school bus counter to enquire or even complete the request form.

During orientation, be quick in completing forms (you need your bank account number for school fees GIRO). Pick up your kid once completed and go for the purchase before the queue comes along. Even better if both parents can be there and you \"split up\" for the tour / completing forms / purchases. Once everyone is out, it is messy and long queues for any purchases.

My dd is joining Rosyth in P4 next year. I have been looking at the sch handbook and it says for the girls, the skirt is optional for P3, 5 &6. So that means itโ€™s only compulsory for P4? Why? And when do they actually wear it?

Thanks to anyone who can tell me more about this mysterious skirt!

Wonder howโ€™s the social EQ of Rosyth School pupils?

I have a irritating and inconsiderate boy from Rosyth School in my neighbourhood. He just graduated from PSLE this year. Kicking ball at his whim and fancy at any time of the day. The loud bang of the ball against the wall has woken me from my sleep and has caused me much agony and disturbing my work as i work from home. I can even hear them with windows shut with double layer curtains in an enclosed aircon room on the second floor.

This is a quiet neighbourhood. Disrupted only by the loud ball kicking sound against wall. If itโ€™s in a HDB estate, he and his family would have been complained. Because itโ€™s a landed property, we have no venue to complain and can only suffer and bear with the noise. Had tried speaking to the mother but sheโ€™s so protective and defensive of her only and youngest son and has since refused to me.

Recently it got even worse. They shifted the piano to the living room. Play and sing at the top of their voices without closing the windows or doors. I can even hear them with my door closed and television on. Imagine how loud is the noise.

This is an Singaporean Indian family. The father is a neuro surgeon (with Raffles Hospital), mother is a teacher i heard. The boy has two elder sisters (one is an undergraduate, the other is probably in high school).

If anyone of you can guess the location of the family from the username, i implore you to help speak and counsel this family on civic mindedness.
