Fully agree! Look at what's happening in the world esp Europe & USA, there are lessons to be learnt without going thru the mess.
Are you prepared to pay the higher income tax? 40% income tax? How about 20% GST? To supple the budget surplus for the welfare? They might be a good proportion of retirees that will be looking forward to 生果金 post retirement... instead of seeking to be active working members of the society?mamago:
If we become a welfare state, the tax payers will be paying for it... get that?
So, do it in your private capacity, (if you will....)
Are you willing?
Or, will it be better to buy their tissue papers at $2 and only donate as and when you feel like when the whatever-charity-shows air on channel 8? and get your share of ranting right about the gov isn't doing it's welfare job in KSP? And wait for the big profitable companies to donate their millions?
Will you be happy that the gov isn't spending your big tax monies on whatever you deemed you deserved, e.g., your children's education, your medicals, your HDB grants blah blah blah... instead of 40% budget annually goes to the welfare....
Think first before you blame.... -
Only one word for u Alvin Tan - Disgust! And Vivian u better wake up!!

That Alvin is a disgrace to be a law student. As for Vivian, she has lost respect for herself. -
mamago:
Phew! Chill......If you with your compassion aren't doing it, why blame the gov?
Charity? How does the word spells? Can the nation afford it?
(How weird that people that don't do charity are the ones that are quick to blame the gov for not doing so.... shoot me, if i am wrong... )
The ones that do the charities, would never have blamed the gov... STRANGE?!
They just DO IT! No word utter.... -

I fear what type of daughter-in-law I will be meeting :nailbite:
Jennifer,
I share your sentiment. I have been observing the behaviours of young girls nowadays and is quite disturbed by their values, or the lack of it.
Some fluant their sexiness openly and enjoy the attention of men/boys ogling at them. -
Fairy:
I can't help but to feel that this is a result of prolonged neglect and a poor self esteemed. If the parents have paid more attention to them much earlier, maybe this would not happen. And hor, paying attention is really spending quality time with them, talking to them (not preaching), listening to them (100% attention, no iPhone pls), making them feel they are valued.Jennifer:

What??? THROW!!! :yikes:
When was the last time you throw a ten dollar note into a busker's cup?
You do that!?? -
It always sadden me when I read such news article. Really shake head at the couple's actions. Showed my dd the article and using this opportunity to teach her about 贞洁和自爱。 Either something is very very wrong with our society or am I the one 老古董 already ?
Well, DH and I strongly believe in instilling the correct moral values to our dd and praying hard that when such \"temptation\" arises, she will fall back to what we have instilled in her and that she will always make a wise choice for herself. Ultimately, it's her choice , her life , her future that she has to think about.
