Parents with 2006 kids, haveyou receivedreceived the book list? Seems like all my elder boy's books cannot reuse except music!

        good morning jedamum :snuggles: :hugs:
I do not have a 2006 kid šŸ˜‰ but understand from relative that the P1-going kids will be using the new Chinese Textbook (Revised Edition) and Maths Textbooks (3rd Edition). Think I won't be able to pass any copies to friends with Y2006 kids nor keep them for 4 years till 2016 for my DS 😢

I shared previously that I had brought up to my DD1's Science T regarding the Science Textbook - more pics than words and we talking about keywords for Science! :skeptical:

Recently, I have the chance to chit chat with one of DD1's classmate's mummy who is a SAHM. I known that her boy is not having any tuitions - Yes, absolute ZERO tuition but he is doing academically v well in the cohort! :rahrah: :rahrah: I asked her how did her boy manage to do without any form of tuition or enrichment? She said her boy is very independent and auto-pilot - he will do his homework and revision daily. If he met with any doubts, he will write it down and ask the T the following day. So, i prompted,\" What about Science? How does he know how to answer question without any external help?\" She said son practice on past year papers that she printed out and google internet for the answer. Then he phrases it in his own way and go ask the Science T the next day. Whoa! :salute: :salute: I give big applause to little boy - he is so mature at his age :please: And, of course I must give a big cheers to the mummy - her selfless sharing with me and her constant support & mentor to her boy is un-measurable! :udawoman:

            :goodpost:

sometimes i also feel tired bringing dd for tuition classes so that's why i always look forward to school holiday :rahrah: can take a break....

recently i told dd i will stop all tuitions when come sec1 and asked her whether she can be independent in her study by then..... she think for a while and reply..... \"can except for CL\"

            hope she really mean it.....

To me, tuition is a slippery slope to go to, so I have been resisting it. DD only goes to tll but for her, it's more like enrichment than tuition.

That being said, I also expect her to maintain certain grades (based on what my dh's & my view of her capability) and if she consistently falls below those, I would definitely pack her to extra lessons!

As many experienced parents have shared, it's a totally different ball game come P5. I do hope that dd remains status quo when the time comes.

All our kids are special in their own way and I find it meaningless to wish them to be otherwise. Each has his/her own strengths or weaknesses and we should celebrate them or help our children to overcome them. For girls at 10 (from my experience), they are really pre-teens with child-like as well as teenager-like mentality (& bodies!). From my dd, I have been 'blessed' with wild mood swings, streaks of independence, hard work, responsible behaviour and peeks of innocence, maturity & downright weirdness. She is somewhat like a Dr-Jekyll-&-Mr-Hyde personality to me  šŸ˜“

That being said, you know your dd best. Actually, why must wait till sec school? Perhaps your dd is mature enough to handle her own work before that? Cut yourself some slack and give her the choice to run her own life lah... šŸ˜‰ Btw, that's what I told my dd. You give me this grade and stay outa trouble, you can stay at home and enjoy life. Else, off you go to tuition & I'll nag you till I die!!! MUAH HA HA HA HA!!! :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

Btw, look on the bright side, at least her tuition stops during hols. My dd's just goes on & on & on, so troublesome to do make-up when we go for hols

Now the question I'm pondering : Should I let her go to tuition by herself? It's just a 7 min walk from home to centre and she doesn't need to cross any road except for the car lane leading to the carpark...

            🤷 :? :?

(ppsst... I'm also very tired of bringing the kids to all kinda classes throughout the week. Don't mind cutting down some of these trips too!)

Hi, not yet leh... Thought only give during orientation?

Anyway, didn't expect #2 to use #1's books cos I heard that MOE likes to change syllabus and textbooks every 3-4 years and my kids are attending different schools. I had given my #1's used textbooks and unused assessment books to NTUC used textbook drive every year...

G'morning everyone! Yeah, exams had kicked off for dd1 too. She finally appeared to be doing serious work - after her EL papers on Fri. She was very productive this weekend, completing many papers, as well as playing lotsa computer games and helping out with ds2.

Today is Maths, followed by CL tomorrow, then Science on Wed. Break on Fri (maybe going Legoland), then it's HE & SS next Mon.

                Can't wait... šŸ•ŗ šŸ•ŗ :dancing:

                  :gloomy: thought can save money
i remember for our time, i still used my brother's books (he is 3yrs older than me) despite the edition revision. we simple photocopy the updated pages. lol.
ds1 said health education and CME book cannot reuse as it is both a text book and work book. for Social studies, the title i have is \"interacting with our world\", but the ds2 booklist print \"inquiring into our world\"! :stupid:

but my ds1's math, CL books also all kiam chai (salted veg) already, as ds2 has been browsing them during his spare time. šŸ˜“
