At what age should you start to prepare for PSLE

quite true though... there's always pros and cons to every solution...I feel that my kids will be yaya payaya if they are taught in advance...so I don't teach them before teacher does. This way, they have to listen.
Hubby and I out of touch...so better not teach them wrong thing or else hard to undo. He believes in algebra. But PSLE math is not so straightforward. -
preparation starts from young.
i always think that kids pick up best. thou their attention span is short but it is compensated by their super mega memory power.

Spot on!
Hi Nebermind,
I kinda see/understand what you are trying to say & ask. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Each year, the child learns new stuff & there will be SA1&2 to test what they have learnt. So theoretically, at every SA exam, kids are revising their work for the year. At P5, kids are learning P5 work which can be entirely new topics or extension of P3&4 (perhaps more in-depth). When kids take their SA2, it's a revision of P5 & re-revision of P3&4 work which shouldn't be an issue. So frankly, it is important to ensure that kids must at least be able to handle current year workload (b4 attempts to advance them). So Consistent work is important.
Sometimes, it's the attempt to move them ahead of others (before they have attained the necessary capability) that's stressing ourselves up. When my DD first transferred Sch & failed badly during some test/worksheet, I was very concerned. But later I realised the problem was cos they were given stuff a year ahead. :slapshead:
I think end of P5 is about the earliest one can start. And even that there will be constraints. Can do P6 languages....but for math and science, should be only revising p3~5 work. But even for that, think will not take more than 1 wk (for science n math) unless there is alot to catch up!! -
i teach my ds1 algebra and circles during his p5 dec holidays then… as for sci, taught him adaptations but not forces… i also bought the psle 5-yr series for him to do whatever he can…

After last SA2 in P5, play 1 week and it’s back to REAL work, to prepare for the marathon ahead. The earlier, the better…build up momentum slowly.
There are many sub-topics under Energy & Interactions…can also start preparing Chinese & English. Same goes for Math. -
I think this thread is similar.

preparing for psle is the ultimate goal...no more holding back...by preparing earlier, child gets an idea what to expect because when school reopens for p6, teachers charge...some schools are nice, they charge only after CNY. -
