P lease

L earning,
E mployees,
hence, grant this PSLE leave, hahaha.

Funz:
I agree with Funz. It's just the company's policy regarding the carrying forward of leave. Though it appears to be an employee benefit to many people.Don't see what is there to be for or against.
This is one company's initiative. And as mentioned, not that the company is giving additional leave but allowing staff to carryover their annual leave to the following year if their child is taking PSLE then. And it is applicable to staff who have been working with them 5yrs and over. After working 5yrs, you will have a minimum of 18 days annual leave, the company allows staff to carry over 1/2 their annual leave to the following year but they need to clear them by June. The good thing I guess is, this will mean parents will have some leave left to go for holidays after their kids' PSLE.
There are many highly educated mothers who deem it important/worthwhile to be a SAHM just to be there for their children. What's taking a few days of leave before the child's major examination in comparrison? Pales in comparison.
Anyway, I am aware of an orgainsation which actually grants its staff 2 month's extra leave (1st on full pay, 2nd on half) before PSLE if the staff has a child taking PSLE that year! Now, this is something! -
WeiHan:
Then should we have O level leaves, A level leaves?
how about pre-enlistment leave..?
for those with boys turning 18.... -
If my company introduce this also, then I must keep fingers cross that my staff don’t all want to go same time lor. I already supportive of maternity leave until my colleague say I stupid to employ women of child bearing age. I experience one go maternity leave and another one go on extended MC due to pregnancy at the same time. Left 1 staff in whole team suddenly! Almost died of stress in that 2 overlapping months! The one staff left behind, i so scared will resign from all the extra work!!! If now their children same time PSLE or clash with maternity leave etc, then all are inflexible dates…then I one woman show sure die! Customers not so understanding…sigh…

For some fathers taking few days leave before PSLE is to be a ‘driver’ buying desserts, accompanying kids while they revise and maybe for some intensive lessons before the BIG day.
I know of a few friends who took unpaid leave for 1 year to accompany kids during the PSLE year. -

Just wondering, dnis mum, cannot hire temp to help? Temp although most likely cannot match up but at least got people help to do filing, photocopy, simple paper work. But my organization doesn't have the norm of hiring temp. Only when one is going on maternity leave, then got a temp.
But hor, pls continue to hire women of child bearing age hor...

Aiyo... These are rare papas! So nice of them. Yup, some of my colleagues also take leave just to prepare meals, takeover the chores (usually, their kid's will do their own ironing. So during psle, parents help out by relieving the ironing duties). Or just ferrying them to/from classes etc.For some fathers taking few days leave before PSLE is to be a 'driver' buying desserts, accompanying kids while they revise and maybe for some intensive lessons before the BIG day.

So frankly, I am one of those who will cry if govt decide to up maternity leave. I also have my limits lor......I will find my defending of maternity leave in the office become a joke to my other male colleagues. One colleague even say that the best employee to have is a non-Singaporean male..., and he really go and get an ang moh male lor, no reservist, no maternity leave :(.
