      MEinME:
I have used the sterilization tablet during the initial 6 weeks, no electric sterilizer, however, I have similar experience with a Medela bottle and another bottle the marking faded!!! Below is Medela's reply:

\"Medela's recommended mode of sterilization is through boiling
method for 3-5 mins and once daily. If you prefer to use a steam
sterilizer, you will have to take note of the temperature as well as
the duration of heating for more than the recommended time may
disfigure plastic parts. Temperature should not exceed 100'C.\"

I have asked what if I need to use again in the day, I was advised to soak in hot water, no more sterilizer, this ONCE A DAY rule applies to pump parts too.

Dented bottle - I first try bottle feeding at week 5+, I have warmed up the BM in an Avent digital warmer, my son didn't finished, I have cap it and when I woke up in the morning, it's dented.
Faded marking bottle - there is the only 1 faded out of the 4 bottles that I have used for pumping and is like happened at week 2 where I only started pumping on day 5.

Speaking of Medela, I just realise one of my bottles has faded markings too, while the rest are still good.

And as if this is not enough, one of the bottles also became slightly dented.

Called up their service centre to enquire about this and whether they would replace my dented bottle, their reply is like what they have informed you, that we should not sterilise the bottles more than once a day. Not only that, no exchange because I couldn't produce any original receipt for the purchase of the bottle (come on, how many of us would actually keep such receipts after we started using the bottles?) :siao:

        Used sterilising tablet.

Washed the bottles/teats, Medela funnel with baby bottle detergent every morn with brush…container to hold all these. After that dumped one tablet into water with bottles/teats. Before use each time, use Pigeon clamp to rinse with hot water. After that, wash bottle and dump into container.
Used this method for both my kids.

Electric steriliser uses too much electricity and waste of time arranging.

But wouldn't the sterilising tablet give out a smell?

Just feel that steaming is a naturally safer method and I had no such issues in the past. Until now.

Based on wat has been said thus far,

If I were u, I wld firstly get d sterilizer checked n serviced if faulty, n get d damaged bottle exchanged if possible.
If problem recurs, pls update here.
            Updating on this:
The service centre of Philips Avent was shocked to hear what had happened to my Avent bottle. They offered to exchange both my bottles (since I bought a box of 2 bottles) with no questions asked. Didn't ask for receipt. They also wanted to test my steam sterilizer and look at my deformed bottle, which by the way, went back to its ORIGINAL shape after a few days

After a week, they called back and said nothing is wrong with my sterilizer. Despite testing it for a few days, the sterilizer didn't auto-switch on like I said it did during the initial period of my usage. :stupid: As a result, they will not exchange a new one for me.

Apparently, nothing was wrong with the bottle too. :skeptical:

They have chased me a couple of times to go and pick up the sterilizer. Guess will have to see if such strange incident happens again in future.

            🤷

I used this sterilising solution (from Australia) and subsequently tablets when I couldn't find the solution. After rinsing with hot water, no prob with smell.

Sorry can't remember the brand...I am outdated mum where bb stuff are concerned  only remember getting several bottles of sterilizing solution at one go. Saw 2 brands of the tablets at kiddy palace though...rinse with hot water before use. That should be safe.

This is the Medela bottle with a slight dent after being sterilized.

                    Safe to use?
