I understand the top overall student from 2012 cohort Finals will be most probably be from JH108 and its girl power, the boys are just a minority.We will just wait and see in a couple of days. The differences are only marginal in most instances not substantial.Hope this throws some light.[/color]
Yup! Shd be the girl in JH108. She is brilliant. DS says that she scores top or close to it in every subject. Seems to be an all rounder.

I understand those on accelerated Maths are chosen based more than just being good in Maths.They band all students under greek alphabets and best students are also classified and the few chosen among the best should be passionate, diligent and complete their work on time and they want to participate and express their wish to do so.I was told many students don't want it even though they are good for various reasons but they attend regular Maths class together with those on acceleration .[/quote]
In JH1 this year, Banding for Chinese and Maths only. Maths is between every 2 classes and Chinese among every 4. It just makes it easier for the teachers to teach at diff pace. Those really good at Maths then do an accelerated Maths programme. This is another plus for NJ, no one can complain that they only give best resources to the good oneDnls_mum:

I am not sure if that is so. Discussion with a teaching staff revealed that current acceleration involves projects and Olympiad style practices much less on fixed syllabus.More students will be joining the acceleration in JH2 and wonder how it will be tailored if they had missed JH1 acceleration -

DS is currently in accelerated Maths and this is what he understood fm his teacher. So let's wait and see if he got it right
or maybe some parents of seniors can advise

DS is currently in accelerated Maths and this is what he understood fm his teacher. So let's wait and see if he got it right or maybe some parents of seniors can advise :)[/quote]My understanding is A.Maths covers more. Maybe each teacher explains to the parents using different styles, so we end up hearing slightly different versions.

Unless NJC has changed the way they conduct A. Math. DS is now in JH3 and he has been with A. Math since JH1. For his cohort, the A. Math is definitely not Olympiad style practices. A. Math cover more indepth and perhaps a little faster. Olympiad is another separate session where he initially took part but subsequently discontinued after loosing the interest. -

After your child has received posting results all students will have to report to their posted schools to purchase uniforms and textbooks. The book list will only be provided there.After settle the decision , I would like to know how do I get the uniform and textbook?
Can I get it earlier as I do not want to do it during orientation . I'm sure it will be very crowded . This is another advantage of DSA . -
My child is in JH2 this year. Initially the class banding is not based on the psle score. There were 5 children from the same primary school and all were put in different classes.
A-Math is more in depth and not olympiad style. -
